  2. Thanks for posting this - an interesting read, if anything.

    Those individuals who aren't mega-fans (like us) of the band more often than not seem to be too tough on Zooropa and Pop. Although, I don't consider them to be the band's best overall work, they certainly aren't the worst.

    I know we have another thread about this but why not do my own ranking - again!

    The next five could be placed in any order. Sometimes I'm in the mood for the experimentation of their 1990's work, sometimes I like something a little more "accessible" like their first two albums of the 2000's...

    Yeah, this. Seem to put Pop ahead of Zooropa on occasion too.

  7. Not at all Matt. I gave up on them by PoP. I actually thought it sucked. Most of U2s "older" fans from the early '80's (like me), felt this way. I was too much to take. The whole dressing up like the Devil ('93) and the Village People ('97),etc. It was more about production then,the glam, then it was about the music.

    I was very into DMB, PJ,Oasis, Radiohead,Soundgarden and blur by '97.

    Not much in terms of "costumes" with any of those bands, is there!?!

  10. Yes indeed. I could not picture Liam Gallagher dressing up on stage. Liam would have said "Fuck with that, its about the fucking music man" and Noel Gallagher would have added "The bloody Beatles didn't dress up now did they ?? Oh wait,they did... for Pepper....Still fuck off with that " lol

    Yeah, those pastel get ups puts on by The Beatles were a bit confusing.

    I guess Bono got away with The Fly persona and both the Mirrorball Man and MacPhisto characters. I was okay with those but even if the "Discotheque" fashions were supposed to be ironic, that seemed a bit much for me.

    However, I do like that muscle-shirt that Bono wore during the PopMart tour.

    I was a bit confused by the whole Zoo TV thing. U2 hadn't toured in the US since 1987. They finally return 5 long years on, and Bono is all done in leather,the stage etc. It was all so over the top. I enjoyed my shows of course, as I attended 10 gigs in 1992. I would have been fine if the band just played the songs in street clothes,as they did in the previous decade.

    I have to say I enjoyed the arena shows more, as they were more intimate then stadiums. But I was without question shocked at how they returned to me. It was similar to a Stones gig.

    I miss the 80's......lol

    That muscle shirt look was ridiculous lol....
