MARK LANEGAN REVEALS COVERS ALBUM ‘IMITATIONS’ RELEASE DATE, TRACKLIST, AND RELEASES NEW SONG
Mark Lanegan announced that he will be releasing his new covers album ‘Imitations’ on September 17, 2013. Lanegan discussed the emotional significance of the album in a statement:
“When I was a kid in the late sixties and early seventies, my parents and their friends would play the records of Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Perry Como, music with string arrangements and men singing songs that sounded sad whether they were or not. At home my folks were also listening to country music, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, George Jones and Vern Gosdin were some of our favorites. For a long time I’ve wanted to make a record that gave me the same feeling those old records did, using some of the same tunes I loved as a kid and some that I’ve loved as I have gotten older. This record is it. Imitations.”
Mark Lanegan has released the first song from ‘Imitations,’ a cover of John Cale’s “I’m Not The Loving Kind.” This sounds different from what Lanegan fans might be used to, but Lanegan’s classic voice pervades throughout and his ambition in trying something new should be celebrated.
The tracklist for ‘Imitations’ was also revealed by Lanegan. The album will feature nine covers and three originals:
1. “Flatlands” (Chelsea Wolfe)
2. “She’s Gone” (Hall & Oates)
3. “Deepest Shade”
4. “You Only Live Twice” (Nancy Sinatra)
5. “Pretty Colors” (Frank Sinatra)
6. “Brompton Oratory” (Nick Cave)
7. “Solitaire”
8. “Mack The Knife” (Bobby Darin)
9. “I’m Not The Loving Kind” (John Cale)
10. “Lonely Street” (Patsy Cline)
11. “Elégie Funèbre” (Gérard Manset)
12. “Autumn Leaves”
Mark Lanegan will release ‘Imitations’ on September 17, 2013 on Vagrant Records.

Read that Alice in Chains got Layne his father on stage few days ago? Kinda weird move isn't it. Not sure how to see that. Just pity Layne wasn't on that stage anymore.
