1. Today, my band will be announcing our biggest show to date!

We will be playing my town's July 4th celebration, on a main stage in the biggest park in the entire town. Every year it fills COMPLETELY (we're talking probably at least 1,000 people) to watch the fireworks at the end of the night, and a band plays from about 5:30 until 9PM, when the fireworks start. My band has the opening slot, so we will play to a few hundred, but still....we are SO pumped! Here is a shot of the crowd during last year's opener:

As you can see, the place is just about full to that first fence-barrier.

And here is a shot of the entire park we'll be playing to, which will gradually be overtaken by people throughout the length of our setlist:

The red box is our stage, and the blue circle shows how dense the crowd will be by 9PM. Hopefully we get a good chunk of that in the first few hours!!
  2. wow, that's great Matt!! I hope you do great...any chance for an audio or video recording?
  3. There will definitely be some video recorded by some of our friends, so I will post some links to that after the show!
  4. And thanks for the well wishes
  5. WOW Matt, that is HUGE!!! Congrats, it must be a great experience
My band and I played a Muse tribute last Friday, we played to 200-250 people which is not bad at all if I may say so I can imagine how it must be to play to a doubled audience!

Will you be performing covers and self material or what?
  6. Our average crowds are usually around 100 people, but once we did play to probably 200 tops...more like 180 I would estimate. The bigger the crowd the larger the thrill, that's for damn sure. I kept up with your posts about the Muse show, and saw your setlist - glad that went well! Were there any videos? Particularly of Plug in Baby??

And yes, I think we'll sneak in one or two originals into the set. We want to keep the crowd's attention and keep them dancing, etc., and most people there expect covers as cover bands get booked for that show every year. So yeah, we should hopefully top out at a few hundred before the masses appear in the later evening.

We're beginning the setlist writing process tonight!!
  7. I have no idea what the most people I've ever performed in front of was.

  11. "Yeezus is the darkest, most extreme music Kanye has ever cooked up, an extravagantly abrasive album full of grinding electro, pummeling minimalist hip-hop, drone-y wooz and industrial gear-grind. Every mad genius has to make a record like this at least once in his career – at its nastiest, his makes Kid A or In Utero or Trans all look like Bruno Mars."
    - Rolling Stone on Kanye West's latest record

I just had my first, and probably last, listen. It's way too extreme for me to enjoy. Not a single song I like.
