1. I'm gonna go a bit against the grain perhaps and say that I love the new lyrics. I think it's great that they're taking a warhorse that frankly, I couldn't care less about hearing live anymore (seen it, heard it, it's on just about every live release, give it a break), and they're completely modernizing it. In fact, I hope this rendition takes the place of the Stuck / Stay acoustic slot on the next tour.

And to be honest, I think "signing up to die" is one of the more poignant lines in the song at the moment. Perhaps it's because I'm so used to the original that, while the lyrics are still powerful, I'm "used" to them...but when he sang that line my heart actually skipped a beat and my emotions were instantly tangled in the song like they've never been before.
  2. Lovely stuff.

I hadn't thought of it, but... Let's hope so!!
  5. On another broken hill
Red crosses and crescent moon collide
Pilgrims pray to no Gods will

    Scratching in the dirt
    Signing up to die
Scorched earth or a cruel sun
Is this the battle Jesus won?

    Are these correct?
  6. ^ assuming they are...

Cruel sun (Wave of Sorrow, Wild Honey), crescent moon (White As Snow), scorched earth (Red Hill Mining Town)... Maybe Bono is running out of images
  7. Wow, this really sounds good. Play SBS like this next tour and you'll see a happy Bart.

The guys also look good, Bono sounds great. I WANT A NEW ALBUM.
  8. I guess we all can subscribe your last line

Also, check this. Full Iran message...

  9. Guess who appears besides Bono, in the rooftop, at the 00:58 mark.......
  10. The performance was amazing, it's so fresh and awesome, but I'm of the opinion that the new lyrics are a little lame. The lyrics themselves aren't bad, but I've never liked when Bono changes his lyrics to better suit whatever he might be singing towards. The original lyrics are good enough to suit almost any conflict, there's no need to add Iranian imagery into the picture.

Also the original ones are better.
