1. Fair enough they dont tour anymore, but still creating music for us to listen to as a hobby would be awesome One can hope
  2. To me you have to name the last album Man. It brings U2 full circle and makes a sense of completeness. Also, I would rather U2 fully retire than just not tour but make albums.
In other U2 news, did anyone see the U2.com Zooropa post? Could this mean reissue?

Not because they're men, but just for the sake of completing the circle. There's sense to it, but I can't tell if some of the band ever confirmed this (don't think so).

Thanks, I didn't know. Mmm, irrespective of the rumours, I think U2 will keep doing music until they've got it in them, and I'm not sure that time has arrived yet! (They've got tons of material, Adam was talking of a second new album in 2014 or so.)

No, it was reissued together with Achtung Baby. And that discussion belongs to another topic

Would prefer if it would be the other way around. So keep touring and stop making new music. Their last three albums were pretty bad, while the live music still sounds great.

But the best thing would be if they just keep making music and touring

    I disagree with you.
Bono and the boys will always love their music and would hate to be separated from it.
Bono made it clear he loves making music, it bring meaning to him.
Perhaps they may not create albums but i think they will still make music
and so they should since they love it so much and i think we will still get snippets of them here and there.
  7. I don't think they'll stop touring and going on making new records. More the other way around...live is where they live
  8. This discussion is reaching way too far only judging from a (probably fake) paper sheet that was leaked containing the same rumour that we already had last week

    With Larry's back condition?

  10. Thought they were with Interscope Records now, not Island?

Surely if they were going to do a full come round to 'Boy' with a cheesey pun, something like 'Of Corpse' would be more apt

    I'll get my coat
  11. ^ that was excessive
  12. We'll know when U2's last album is upon us when they start talking about it as "U2's best work as a band". Not "to date". They've always said, and I mean always because I remember hearing Bono say this in interviews from the 80's too, that their best work is still ahead of them and that the one "great" album is still yet to be made. Not only that, in an interview right before Window in the Skies was coming out they said the same thing but also said "we feel like we're just about to make that album".

One other piece of evidence (since I'm on a roll here detective-style ) is that I've heard Bono, on more than one occasion say "two crap albums and you're out". Not that they've made 2 crap albums in a row, but I think many (not everyone) including the band consider NLOTH's reception and maybe even the scope of it a bit of a failure, so I can see them saying "Let's make one more album, and if it really goes nowhere it'll be our last work and we'll tour live and maybe do an ep every now and then from here on out".

I can't see U2 retiring soon, but I also could for those reasons. Seeing that picture that Sergio posted: "MANhattan" scares the shit out of me.
