1. So today I was just sitting around listening to "Walk to the Water", when I remembered I had heard about the "Restored Joshua Tree", the original double album U2 thought about releasing. I looked up the tracklist, put it in my iPod, and listened to it. And I thought it was very good. I think that it flows really well. Anyway, after this I decided that I would make a "Restored" version of as many U2 albums as possible. These restored versions include B-Sides and other singles from the period. Also, these are very rough. I have never been good at making track lists and for that matter some of the songs I am not incredibly familiar with. Please, if you have any suggestions (of re-ordering, cuts etc.) tell me! Oh and I am NOT mixing these. This is just re-ordering. So with that, here are my "Restored" albums!

I cut "Endless Deep", but if anyone thinks it will fit, please tell me where and I will add it. Also, I really wasn't sure where to put Sixty Seconds, but the start sounded OK to me.

Well that's it! I am going to do War, and maybe Boy, October and Pop. Any suggestions for those?
  2. Don't know, but you have just introduced me to "Sweet Fire Of Love", so thank you for that.

  3. No problem! I love that song :p there is also another song with U2 and Robbie Robertson on that album called "Testimony" which I don't like as much, and a song with Peter Gabriel! Don't know which song that is though
  4. Many of the Joshua Tree B-Sides were not finished until after the album was released, so technically they would have better fit on a restored Hattle And Rum. Initial tracking was completed on many of them, but the full versions were not done. Not to mention that Spanish Eyes, Silver And Gold, and LTimes and Walk Water would have been great on Hattle.

Wait, am I missing something with you calling it "Hattle and Rum"? And eh, close enough :p plus I think they fit great with JT
  6. I've always enjoyed listening to the restored JT compilation.

I should try the UF and R&H versions, too.

I don't know if I can mess with AB and Zooropa.

Yeah I would tend to agree but hey I tried! I definitely prefer the originals though :p

  8. I always call it Hattle & Rum. I just like the way it sounds. I guess we could pretend the Joshua Tree came out in August, when all those tracks could have been finished...lol. I tend to not mess with the earlier albums other than adding the J Tree B-Sides to Hattle. For later albums, I add Mrs Sarajevo and HMTMKMKM to Pop, and all the Bono/U2 tracks from AwfulHorribleMovieDollarHotel to ATYCLB, and remove Grace. For Bomb, I subtract One Step Closer and Man & Woman....and add Mercy, Electrical Storm, Hands that Built, and sometimes Fast Cars...sure...Electrical Storm was a demo when ATYCLB came out, but it fits better on Bomb for me...For NLOTH, I add Soon, Winter, and take out the horrible Fez intro, so Being Born is left without the ridiculous Boots refrain.

Strangely enough I knew about Testimony, but not Sweet Fire Of Love. Not a bad song

I like it See I just could never remove one of the original album tracks... Also, I really don't listen to HTDAAB, NLOTH and even ATYCLB often, so I really wouldn't want to change it anyway.

Reading this thread reminded me of a website where they recreated Bruce Springsteen albums from 1977-1984 and included all of the unreleased tracks. I have included the links so check it out.

Very cool. Will have more of a look later.

Yeah Testimony isn't bad. I prefer SFOL though.
  11. I think Achtung Baby lacks 'Alex / Korova". I love that track.
