1. Hey ya'll. So over the past few years I've been noticing that occasionally food gets caught in my throat pretty often and i thought it was just normal because I would drink water and it would go down....

Well pretty recently its gotten a lot worse. As you may remember I joined the NAVY a year ago and last week on our ship i swallowed some food and nearly went down for good...they sent me to the hospital and are doing some more tests. They taught me a technique that worked today when I had a similar situation at home so thats good news.

So with that, just keep me in your thoughts all im in no way a worse situation than our other stricken comrades but its still scary nonetheless. Thanks all!
  2. Wish you all the best and sending good energies to you, friend!
  3. I have the exact same thing I think and I have never heard of or met anyone else with this problem either. I can't swallow most foods without a drink. It got really bad when I was younger to the point where I felt like I was choking a lot of the time and the water I would drink to push the food down would just fill my throat up right to the top and i'd get really sick too. I got sent to the hospital for a barium swallow x-ray and they couldn't find anything wrong...

So I just had to deal with it and be really careful to swallow my food in smaller chunks and always have a drink on hand. As I said though - it's got a lot better since i've got older.

Hope you get it sorted somehow though.
  4. My thoughts and prayers are with you...hope you fell better!
  5. My brother has a similar problem but slightly different he has food stuck in his chest and. Its hard to swallow or eat and i have experienced once before but for him its ongoing.
Hope you get it sorted out
  6. So does my brother. It doesn't sound at all nice. The smaller chunks and slower eating helps.

I hope it eventually calms down!
  7. Best wishes..for you...
  8. the best for you ...sure this is nothing nice
  9. Hey Sam! Didn't know of your problem, and I'm sorry to hear it's gone worse, but I'm sure you will overcome it no prob! Go ahead! And good to see you around every now and then, I guess your Navy duties have you busier than busy but drop by more often if you can
  10. sorry to hear about your problems, Sammy. It sounds bad to suffer this when it happens. And reading the others this seems to be a more common problem than I would have thought... any idea why this occurs, in general? is it caused by anatomic reasons, or a nerve disfunction (words?) ?

wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery!! keep us updated, my friend
