Really hard to read your words Emiel, but I'm also glad you're with you family and friends...people should know that they're the most important thing in their lives and should spend more time with people who care about us instead of living just for work or material stuff.

You really are an hero and an exemple for everyone here, so be proud of yourself and of your beautiful family. We will always support you, and I hope you get some of the best moments of your life from now till the day you decide you're tired of our physical world (no matter if it is days, months or years because everything is possible).

God has a beautiful plan for each of us, and maybe we can't understand how things are going but I'm sure there's a reason for everything that happens in our lives, so I hope you can find the answers for all your questions and I hope you find peace in your heart just like I found.

Hi Emiel, just back from a few days off and reading your last message. Wishing you and your family all the strenght in the coming time. Good to read you can do lovely things with the familiy, really shows what is important in life.

This is the saddest 1000th post in a thread ever. I wish this topic never existed, but I've instantly thought of it when this song came up on the radio this morning (I rarely listen to the radio but there are still some stations that play good music). This song means so much to a lot of people, and even if it's not my favorite song, it means a lot to me in many ways too. And it's now got a special meaning attached to Kirsten and to Emiel.

I am very sad to share the news that Emiel has passed away yesterday morning. His wife Jolanda sent me a message this morning and appreciated if I could share the news in the topic where Emiel kept us all up to date on his battle, one he couldn't win. U2 was an important theme in his life, which will continue with his wife and kids.

This is the saddest day since this forum exists.

I kindly ask to all of you for a prayer or just a good thought, send it off to Emiel's memory and his family and close friends, who are the ones that are suffering now. Emiel is free now, and even though this isn't the end we had all hoped for, it might be better for him to stop suffering. He's had a great life and he has given a great life to his wife and above all to his beautiful children, who will remember him as the great man he was. And we will remember him as a great fan of the band he loved the most, as well as a fantastic person that used to spread love and hope around. That's a lot better than most of us can say.

Here's to you, Emiel, you will be remembered forever, you will live forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.
