The album is done. The album has been done. There are probably copies of the album sitting in a warehouse somewhere with no labels printed on them to make it seem innocuous.

They are waiting to book all their tour dates so when they decide to release the album, they do it on the exact same day as they announce the tour and start selling tickets. This way, people who want to see U2 live again will inevitable have to buy the new album regardless of how good it is because nobody wants to be that guy who's never heard the new song played at a concert. They will start the tour within a month after the album release, so nobody will have time to judge the album. Critics will tremble in fear because they won't want to write a critical review of a song that becomes an instant hit on stage. U2 will literally force their way into relevancy because nobody will want to criticize their boldness.

They should hire you as their new marketing manager

It sounds like a good idea actually.
  2. Found this at tumblr:

A U2 fan (The U2 Experience) met Dallas Shoo up at Hanover Quay, Dublin (8 September 2013).

"Asked how the album was coming along. "Great - some amazing songs - you’ll love it!"

    When’s it out

    "We’ve been told next yer"

So no release dates of tour dates?

    "no - not yet"

What’s i sound like? Is it Achtung Baby-esque?

(look of surprise) “no no - not at all but very very exciting”

SO is the album at post production stage at this stage?

"God no. You’d think so!!! They’re still writing stuff and Edge keeps coming up with new stuff. I’m actually off to him now!!"

    Thanks Dalls - talk soon”
  3. Yeah, it was posted a few posts back. I would be glad if I met Dallas when I'm there next week
  4. Could it be that they're delaying because they don't feel like touring again, and that they feel obligated to tour if they release anything

  5. That'd be awesome, Sergio. I'm against torture, but, geez, we need reliable news, and they'd better be good. I'd be prepared to morally forgive anything you might do in Dublin to get news, or - better - copies of whatever they've recorded so far. Just don't steal the lyrics - we may get another October. But I'd encourage you to steal tapes - we may get another AB!

That would be pretty kick ass.

HAHAHA!!! I will carry my audio recorder and I will spend many hours sitting in front of HQ so I will press "recording" at the very moment any sound comes from the studios!! You can be sure.

Now THAT would be what I call "the element of surprise".
  10. I wish they would give us something to tide us over though; release a Best of 2000-2010 and throw on 4 or 5 new tracks that they've recorded around then. I would definitely pick it up.

If they lost the urge to tour, they will inevitably lose the urge to produce music. U2 without touring is not U2.

However, I am slightly concerned that tour details have been kept under wraps. Even before 360 (long before 360), there were rumors going around regarding the theme of their next tour.
