Was Bruce being serious when he was talking between Atlantic City and Mansion on the Hill in the 2000-07-01 - New York MSG show when he said 'we're doing a little recording tonight so we need as much quiet as we can get and please, uh, no clapping along on the slow songs, thank you' ?

very serious, it's another one of his obsessions, it's madison square gardens for fuck's sake Bruce 20,000 people are not going to be quiet - he said the same thing plenty of times in 1999/2000 before that section of the set list - he did the same thing during the rising tour, did it sometimes during devils and dust and as for the tom joad tour some of his protestations were just embarrasing.He used to do a similar thing about fireworks on the river tour.
