  2. Hey, ease up on The Refugee. It has a naive charm in the way young Bono is having a political awakening and tries to be Joe Strummer.
    In comparison, there ain't much to recommend that bag of shite that was the last album.

  4. I happen to think that Red Light is, indeed, one of their most underrated songs. It has the singing talents of the Cocanut Girls, horns (maybe preceding thier R&H days) and a certain loose, funky quality long before the days of Achtung Baby (though nothing like MW in a long shot).

    But I'm getting off topic myself so back to the new album.

    With all that said, I had hoped that the band utilized this loose funkiness more and bright it back to their palette (knowing Dangermouse's background in R&B music -- Gnarles Barkley), and with Adam saying that the new music is a fusion between early 80s U2 and 2000s U2, it gives me hope that this can happen. It may not end up happening exactly like that but it's so cool to think about the possibilities: the band re-embracing their youth while accepting the maturity of their 2000s work.

  7. Please sound like The Clash or David Bowie or something cool. I want Boy v2.0 (but not Man)

    If it is true, no matter how remote that possibility may be, that means the album won't sound like what we've Ordinary Love then? I can't think of anything that sounds at all like that from the music that made the guys want to be a band back in the 70s..

    Additionally, I wish they'd set tour dates and an album release date much like Pop back in the 90s, so that they can't screw around and meddle with the album. Then they'd have to get something out.

    Not long till that rumoured date in early November now

    I'd be willing to bet my cheque that it is not coming in November. I'd love to get a new U2 album by Christmas but it just won't happen.

    It was just the rumour for the lead single.. Now unlikely but definitely not impossible

    Based on that Ordinary Love clip he's not wrong, I think Bono just says this shit to make casual U2 fans excited.
  12. Casual fans aren't looking for news about a new album everyday though. They only hear about it when it's out.
