It's Allen Ginsberg, an American poet from the Beat Generation of the 1950s.
Here's the full poem from which the lines in "Drunk Chicken" were taken:

    Here's his brief bio:

He's a really fascinating character; he along with writers like Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs paved the way for the American counterculture of the 1960s. Really fascinating stuff. The poem has the same feel as both Bullet the Blue Sky and In God's Country; that anger and pessimism combined with a longing for the idealism of the past.

I havent got the DVD but it cant be bad. A european Joshua Tree show. You just know it's gonna be fantastic.

Although not entirely new i've got to give a mention to Bono's performance on Silver and Gold. Also relistened to Desert Of Our Love. It sounds a bit better. Just wished I knew what Bono was saying

Do you know the DVD " souls, boots and prayers?" there are 8 songs from Paris, 1987-07-04 on there........ So, it won't all be a surpise.

the Paris concert is good stuff, but I wish they had chosen Rosemont 1987-04-29 for the DVD. Or maybe even perhaps Dublin 1989-12-31....

Oh well, I still wil be running to my CD store in two days time......!

Never heard of it.. You're right about the choice of bootleg. Rosemont would have been great..MOTD gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to the bootleg. And Dublin isn't really Joshua, but would have been awesome. But I don't think they have any footage of it. Somehow I think U2 will come up with loads of good things after they quit. There's a lot of hidden and unknown material, I think.

to be frank.... I have always been afraid that there really ISN'T a lot of hidden and unknown material.

Take this Joshua Tree anniversary edition for instance...... only 5 unreleased tracks from that area, most of them sort of "unfinished" (and according to some people on this forum, including Remy himself, not all that good....).

so if that is all there is... remember: those were the days that a single had proper B-sides! (and not only the remixes we get nowadays...)

    sorry to disappoint you but...

(anyway, let's hope they do not quit for a very long time!)
