1. It is But I just hope they realise that... The song itself is boring imo. It's nice they finally have some succes again.

I don't mind the original imo. It has a beautiful melody, a catchy production curiosity of Danger Mouse (though not as overtly as we might expect), some of Bono's finest lyrics - especially his singing in the 2nd verse), and musical tightness by the band. In regards to Edge's minimal guitar contribution, we have to remember that unlike most guitar players, his style IS minimal. He's not that complex of a player. He CHOOSES to have his guitar contribution not overtly present over the rest of the band, he even says it himself that he believes that the minimal and simple a solo or guitar part is, the more effective is has as an emotive to the song's emotion as it carries it more deeply (i.e. - One, With Or Without You, Miracle Drug, etc.). I'm not against fellow fans here disagreeing with me on his guitar playing, I'd just thought I point this out since some has expressed their opinions on how Edge's guitar should be more daring and gutsy (i.e.-Achtung Baby, Pop) which I agree is some of his BEST ever guitar work.

But that's all besides the point. Sure, I personally wouldn't rank Ordinary Love among the other great U2 songs such as SBS, Streets, Still Haven't Found, One, etc. But for a new U2 song in 4 years, its definitely one that came at the proper moment in the proper time - what has been described by some as "cheesy", "safe" and "Electrical Storm, Pt. II", after the unfortunate passing of Nelson Mandela, its sure offering that sense of condolence and healing (like most U2 songs do) to a grieving world stricken by the loss of a great man and a great human being.
  6. Lol?
  7. Not bad, but not better either.
  8. Yeah, I just got the email from U2.com endorsing it. I'm not really sure what it's trying to be, but it's not terrible. I can't say it has much replay value for me though.
  9. I can't say that the original has much replay value either.
