1. "Howdy" everyone, from Austin, Tx, US

Love this site! First came across it a few weeks ago and really love the content and layout, and everyone seems really friendly too.

Thanks to djrlewis for suggesting I post here.

...I've been a U2 fan since 1988 (age 12), so this Joshua Tree re-release (once I accepted that it was not indicative that they're becoming "backward looking" as a band) has been very enjoyable. Love the DVD, I recommend it if you're on the fence about which version to pick up.

Have been fortunate to see U2 on three tours, also was fortunate to get to upload "Stay" footage from the recent & now-famous Union Chapel gig:

  4. G'day Dizzy!
  5. G'Day everyone,

    Thanks for the welcome!

(BTW, I lived in Melbourne for three years growing up- it's where I first learned of U2; beautiful country)

DJr, I'd be happy to give it some thought, but honestly I'm in need of improving my internet connection, also can't guarantee I'll be checking in here every day. I'm not a diehard bootleg fan, but I have a few; I'll try to make time to read through that thread later.

Meantime, if you want to give me a brief idea exactly what it entails, I'm all ears.

    thanks,

    Jay

PS Sorry you guys have to wait a bit longer on the remaster... if you haven't heard "Rise Up" or "Desert of our Love" yet, I posted them here:

  6. Welcome!!
I hope you have a great time here!!
    cheers from Argenitna!

    Thanks for looking Jay.

It's simply a list of people who would be willing to download a show or 2 if necessary because the rules about files being maintained on Rapidshare (the site our Webmaster Remy uses to host most of the boots) have changed and inactive shows will be deleted. So, if a boot hasn't been downloaded by anyone within 90 days, it risks being lost from the site.

The list is there just for Remy to use as reference if it's ever needed. There's no pressure at all. There would even be freedom to say 'can't do it this week fellas, too busy' and we'd move on to the next guy. It's only to show interest.

There are far more interesting threads to read than that one, trust me!!

On the boot thing, this is a list of recommendations that often comes up - give it a look if you want.

Also have a look at these topics previously discussed:-

    Best Popmart
    Best Point Depot (Lovetown)
    Favourite live show
    ZooTV Legs 1 & 2
Just one boot from every tour?
    Best Vertigo Bootleg?
    Elevation Tour soundboard recordings

And for a decent summary of each tour, these are hard to beat (thanks Spiral ):-

    Elevation Tour
    Popmart Tour
    Vertigo Tour Rarities
    Joshua Tree Tour
    Unforgettable Fire Tour
    Zoo TV Tours

Not live material, but interesting anyway is this Megamix

If you ever want to look for an older topic, the SEARCH function is a great place to start.

    Hope this helps

    PS, Please call me Dan
  8. Thanks Dan, Johnny,

I appreciate your taking the time to post that.

As mentioned, I'm not much into bootlegs at the moment, but I have wondered in passing what are considered the best from each tour if I decide to collect a few in future, so those lists and links are appreciated.

At present, life is busy and my internet arrangement is not optimal. If//when I do decide to download some material however, I will let you know and be more than happy to reciprocate and help out with this project- it looks great.

    Thanks again!
