  4. U2 to Receive Sonny Bono Visionary Award at Palm Springs Film Festival

The Palm Springs Film Festival will present U2 with the Sonny Bono Visionary Award at its January 4 awards gala. The rock group’s song “Ordinary Love” is featured in the film “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.”

“We normally present the Sonny Bono Visionary Award to a director, but for our 25th anniversary we wanted to take the occasion to celebrate U2, a visionary group and the world’s premier rock band, for their unparalleled humanitarian work against extreme poverty, disease, and social injustice,” said festival chairman Harold Matzner.

The awards gala will also fete honorees Sandra Bullock, Bruce Dern, Tom Hanks, Matthew McConaughey, Steve McQueen, Thomas Newman, Lupita Nyong’o, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep and the cast of “American Hustle.”

“Ordinary Love” was nominated for a Golden Globe in the original song category, and U2 was Oscar-nommed for the song “The Hands that Built America” from “Gangs of New York.”

    The festival runs January 3-13.

  5. I don't know where to post it, but the musical "Spiderman : Turn off the dark" will end this saturday.

  6. You know, even though the Spiderman musical was riddled with problems right at the outset, I believe it has broken records as far as musicals are concerned. All in all, a good venue for Bono and Edge I think.
  7. I skipped ahead and the first thing I heard was,"Thank you Colin Farrell for your Colin Farrellness"

    LOL
