  2. What is everybody's opinion of Be Here Now? It's an album that has intrigued me recently. I used to detest this album. My dad played Oasis a lot when they were prominent and BHN was never an album I enjoyed – partly because it's a band that never gave a shit at the time making the music over-produced and lyrically poor. However, I give it a thorough listen for the first time in probably five years two weeks ago and I was impressed. It's 70 minutes long – too long to me – but shows, in a way, an experimental Oasis; not just with drugs but with music! Shame that Noel hates this album now but I can see why. I think it's nicely flowing with some great vocals and melodies. It's an extremely arrogant record but you can see why.

    I got it on vinyl yesterday and I use headphones. It is possibly the loudest record I have ever listened to. 'My Big Mouth', which is my favourite song on the album, nearly blew my ears off and I'm not surprised if tinnitus is round the corner. That song has an unnecessary amount of guitar tracks in it, but that was the idea by Noel – to make it as rocky as the band possibly could. I can't help but share my love about this album at the moment. I find it spectacularly fascinating.
  3. If it were from any other band - and I mean any other band - back in 1997, Be Here Now would have been considered a masterpiece. However, it was virtually impossible for them to create something as phenomenal as their first two albums (plus all those great b-sides!!!!) - especially with all that coke they were doing. That said, and even with all of its over-production, there are some truly great songs on it with "Stand By Me" and "Don't Go Away" being my two favourite, along with the then-experimental "D'You Know What I Mean," the kickass "My Big Mouth" and the underrated "I Hope, I Think, I Know." The other tunes are pretty good but are indeed way too long - namely "All Around The World."

    If you haven't already done so, I recommend downloading the 1997 G-Mex show. It's great!

    Have to agree.

    It's my third favourite Oasis album, behind the obvious two. It is long, but that only bothers me when I don't get to finish it when I'm listening to it on the way to somewhere. Don't Go Away is my favourite from the album.

    Totally agree with this. Well said. I agree that if any band released that as a first album, or even if Oasis did, it would be massively appreciated - even more so than it was then.
