I seem to remember hearing that they considered the red lights and thought they'd try something new. Hopefully they will now have recognised that was an error (if any of them ever cast eyes over fansites they couldn't fail to notice!!)

Hmm...I remember reading on U2 by U2 that Bono loved the flag thing, let me find it...
he's on the stage the night before the show rehearsing streets with the flags going down and he remembers that he wrote the song when he went to ethiopia and "all the stuff about parched lands and deserts making sense for the first time. The hairs just stood up on the back of my neck. I could barely sing the song. And it was like that every night of the tour" I want the red screen!!!
Ow, and before this, he says they were going to not do streets and show a google earth thing going from the stadium to africa instead...thank God adam and larry stopped that!!

SMS walls are there already. Typically though, they are there for you to sign up to the one campaign
  3. I read an explaination about the flags that kinda made sense.

Basically the meat of the article was saying that with the red screens and lights, the audience just went nuts and were out of puff by 'the city's a flood'. By employing the flags for the intro and killing the lights they allowed the crowd to conserve themselves then they hit the lights at 'love love love' so that the crowd would take off again.

Nice idea but it didn't work. Give us what we want Willie

DOES make sense but still...today I was watching Streets from ZOOTV Sydney...the red lights, the atmospheric cool sound and then larry hitting the cymbals! and the famous back-of-the-neck hairs just wouldn't get down!! And it was on my VERY small first gen iPod nano screen! I can't imagine what that would do to you live!

As good as ZooTV performances were I think they hit Streets perfection on Elevation. Edge had the perfect guitar sound, the intro wasn't too long, Bono didn't ramble too long, red screen, rolling lights then FLASH. Hard to beat

This may be the wrong place to bring it up BUT I've just seen that late January 2008 is the release date for U23D, Sooo Exciting time it is!!!!
Of course that might change ....But can still hope right!!

My fav Streets of all time is the Boston version from the DVD. I can listen to that over and over again!! For me near perfection!!!

One of the best, but Slane is more emotional for me, because Bono doesn't use the Psalm 116 snippet there but cries to his father. The best Streets is difficult to choose. There are so many and so many undiscovered. 12-31 Point Depot also rocks hard...for example. Or the ZOO TV ones with RTSS turning into Streets...f*cking awesome..

would be better if you couldn't hear the point where they edited in the other nights performance.

1992-10-14 - Texas is one to check out. D/L the radio broadcast section. Awesome
