    After "Nigel" left the band, the lead singer says it's "Spinal Tap Mark 2, I hope you enjoy our new direction" and they abandon metal and started playing acid jazz rock fusion (near the end of the movie).

    I second that. Hilariously funny movie. It immediately came to my mind when I read the topic title.

    U2 have been compared to Spinal Tap after the Lemon prop collapsed during a concert of the POP-Mart tour, leaving the band caught inside.

  11. Now that would indeed be a brave step. Even braver than the AB, Zooropa and POP experiments.

    U2 have already taken a careful step into jazzy stuff with Cole Porter's "Night and Day". Bono has also contributed to Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett albums as well as doing a few tribute cover versions in that direction.

    Most likely too brave for me, thanks but no thanks.
