1. There was a "small 3 year world tour" midway though

My two cents, given the two new songs we've heard: U2 can still write very good music, yes; but the new material won't be JT or AB like. Maybe they're not quite young enough anymore, maybe it's not quite the time for rock n roll, maybe great songs are not quite flocking by the minute, maybe a mix of all these things - who knows. I really like Invisible, but, like the recent survey confirmed, most of us think it's no WOWY, Bad, SBS, AIWIY, EVBTTRT, MW and so forth.

I'm quite happy with that, though! It is a really great song, and U2 are still the biggest, and best, band in the world!

I think it's kind of unfair to stack Invisible up with those songs since we haven't even had it for a month yet. I know when I voted I chose the 4 option (or the good not great or whatever the second choice was) but had we just had any of the songs listed above for less than a month I feel like it would get the same rating. We love these songs because we've had so much time with them. Invisible is still getting quite a few repeated plays on my iPod so I'm not worried. I can see it becoming a favorite.
  3. I agree, good point... only time will tell!

  4. OK, so it's 2 per year... if we're 5-6 songs short, this means 2 to 3 years before the album is out!

I don't agree. Masterpieces are masterpieces since they're born.
  6. From now on, that's what I'll think: album in 3 years; must not forget to buy U2 album in 2017 and see the the band live in 2018!

  7. Yes - if Invisible had been a new WOWY, we'd have noticed it...

On the other hand, although (back in the day) I listened to AB since it came out, and liked it, it took months to grow to masterpiece level on me.

I was 14, though, I had been a fan for just two years or so, and was still quite into the early stuff, TUF, JT, R&H. AB was quite a shock initially - it was so (very) different from anything they'd done. And good!

I think the album will be good, but I'm not expecting miracles.

  8. And I don't agree with that statement though I definitely see some validity in it. Seeing the way the "There is no them" translated live on Fallon was to me absolutely amazing and really took the song to another level for me.
  9. I was happy that Fallon didn't ask about the new album in the interview piece.

  10. During a small world tour called ZOO TV they recorded Zooropa ( and it wasn t a bad job )

  11. And they were 30 years old.

    They no longer are.

We have to deal with it and be happier fans
