  1. Eno can't really finish albums either, he lets them experiment and jam until the band can't anymore. Unfortunately Steve Lilywhite is the one that seems to finish the albums off for them.

    The steps and the confusion I go through when I write songs are similar to the ones when I´m creating a building/house/etc... Which path to follow? Out of these 4 chords, make an acustic heartfelt song or let´s add up some beats and epic guitar to make it a bit more anthemic? Let´s make a green patio, but should I cover parts of it with this metallic structure and give it more flexibility or should I just leave it open and make it more discreet and cozy?

    What I learned is: You have to give up on somethings so things can go forward... It´s like life... When you choose, you lose... And deal with the consequences. But, most importantly, there needs to be a deadline. You can always make it better. ALWAYS. You can always try other things... But you have to finish it... Someone is waiting for it to be built, they are not going to wait forever... Time is money...

    I don´t know if I made my point clear... Or if it´s relevant... But it´s something I think a lot... There needs to be someone pushing them. Bono wanted to cancel the realease of JT when it was being printed out... I guess this is another moment of those...

  5. I can't help but think we'd be seeing a very different message if Invisible was #1 on the charts and Ordinary Love won at the Oscars. I don't think it's a coincidence this decision was made after the Oscars and after Invisible had enough time to chart or not.

    And it's too bad. I think they are looking for hunger / relevance in the wrong places...and unless they lower their expectations or just decide to go for self, they'll keep postponing and postponing as they try to jam themselves out of this problem locked in a studio. Though I bet at this point they are taking songs that were great, and waaaaaaay over thinking them into a muddy middle.

  9. Just odd timing. When you watch their performance of Invisible on Jimmy Fallon, Bono yells out "Good to be back!". The band was ready two (2) weeks ago to get this started and I think that the release of Midnight and Magic (more so Midnight) threw them off track. Did Coldplay get the sound that they have been going after?

    Interesting as well, besides Coldplay's debut album the two (2) have never released an album in the same year.

  12. Coldplay is less relevant than ever. And it's not hater in me speaking, I like their music. So - no, this delay doesn't have anything to do with Coldplay.
