This may be the main problem: while other bands are paving the roads to new genres (like Coldplay did with Midnight or Muse with Madness, Follow Me and Unsustainable), U2 is just trying to follow these roads and stay relevant, which eventually makes them irrelevant.

There it is, what I have been trying to say ever since I heard the chorus to Invisible.
  2. On a lighter note...for our guitar playing guys, this is a simple way to get a sound like Magic:

  3. I didn't like Magic that much after the first listen, but the song has been growing on me.

It is very simple, and the drums are very weak (just like the ones in Invisible), but there's something on that song that I really like. I still can't say what it is though.
  4. Same here. I'd say it's the mood and lyrics for me, the heavy and mellow bass and the whole feeling of the song gets to me
  5. I must say there's something on Coldplay I will always love: Jonny's guitar. He's not the greatest in the world, but he knows how to leave a mark on the biggest part of Coldplay songs, and definitely I can see this in Magic.
  6. Sounds like another guitarist I know
  7. Exactly what I thought after reading my own post, and well, Edge's really a guide for a lot of people
  8. It's true about the comparison with the Edge even on Magic.
In fact, I sent the link to my niece, who isn't a U2 fan, just listens to them casually....anyway, on first listen she replies "Lots of inspiration from U2!" It was interesting to hear that from her, being young and into different bands.

And it's true, the guitar is especially very The Edge.
  9. I wonder how much of the new album we will hear tonight at the iTunes Festival at SXSW?
  10. This first song is amazing!
