Oh man I love Sky...great pop music, even if she does come off as a little trashy. Cut Copy have an amazing show right now as well, glad you'll be seeing it!

Great to know this! First time I'll be watching both live, so I have good expectations now

AM was disappointing the more I listened to it and it just sounds half-arsed. I'm a huge fan of Humbug now and I think that has grown over time. They need to head in a direction that combines their first three albums so that fans don't disappear. It's not a band I will see again, unless they change drastically, which would tempt me to see them live for a third time.

    QFT

I'll probably never see them again either to be honest. Unless a festival set sort of falls into my lap.

I've seen them at a festival, in an arena, and a small club, so I've sort of had every experience with them and I'm tired of the setlist they've got going.
  3. I'm sadly in a very similar position to you both, and I am a DIE HARD fan of them. It's painful to feel such things but hey, there's other fishes in the sea (if my translation from a Spanish saying makes any sense).
  4. It does
  5. Afghan Wighs coming to Sao Paulo and the tickets are cheap. I've listened to 2 or 3 songs from those guys, but I may attend the show next month.

I wish they released anotehr powerful, more direct indierock album again. Despite their efforts, they havent topped their 2 first albums, and I think they know this deep inside.

Muse are trending the same way imo

When older U2 fans used to tell me they stopped liking the band after the 80's, and that their 1st few albums were the best. I couldn't relate, I couldn't comprehend how people could stop liking a band. Back then I used to think that once you like a band, you like them for good.

Starting to see how it's possible now though.

Yeah, it's very different with a band that's produced most of its work before you like/know them, and a band that are still forming their sonic and performance identity while you follow them.

When you started to like U2, they had already waved the white flags, played Streets all around the world, produced the Zoo TV madness and blown the POP bubble; that means you had a lot of past greatness to deal with in the first place. When I started to listen to Muse, they had barely released their 3rd album (Absolution aka War), and when I started listening to the Monkeys they hadn't even released their 2nd album yet! So yeah, it's totally different stories.

I don't think Muse are in the same path as the Monkeys though. Muse has had 2 mediocre albums but with some clear, bright spots of brilliance: Unnatural Selection, Supremacy, MK Ultra, Exogenesis, Eurasia, Animals, Survival... I can't list as many great songs from the last 2 Monkeys albums. For God's sake, I can't even list as many great songs from the setlists they've been playing for almost a year now!
