1. ^ I always do "select all" > "copy" when I write a long text (and sometimes paste it in a blank wordpad page), so in case the browser or the connection fucks it up, I have it safely stored in the wordpad or the clipboard. This is the best internet-advice you'll get today
  2. This album is influenced by Nirvana, Pearl jam, etc. Vocals similar to Kurt Cobain and Billy Corgan (calmer parts). So that's why I call it "post grunge".
Haven't heard them live and would love to, but I'm afraid singer is not able to sing it clearly live. But who cares, this is rock!

-Crime Scene Part One - slow intro start (train sounds?), 1st verse also slow, after 3 minutes the song finally breaks in. Nice guitar and nice song to start.

-My Enemy - good riff and verses, but choruses are slow and taking the song down. This needs energic chorus and it could have been great rocker.

-Double Day - nice song, Cobain-like vocals, so it sounds familiar

-Blame, etc. - violin, synths, funky guitar, great song

-Step Into The Light - not my favourite, can't get into, even lyrics are plain... track to skip for me...

-Going To Town - great rocker, love for first listen and it is still there after more listens. Love the lyrics at the end of second verse: "...now we got hell to pay, don't worry baby, that's okay, I know the boss"

-Honky's Ladder - again rocking song, good to sing at open air shows ("Got you where I want you, motherfucker")

-Night By Candlelight - another slow song, better than Step Into..., nice piece

-Buletproof - good rock song, one of tops from this album... guitrs, organs, piano... well done

-Summer's Kiss - nice song, but forgettable, maybe needs more (than 5) listens. I would agree with Sergio - definitely can hear PJ there

-Faded - back to start with the almost the same intro as first song, maybe could have been called "Crime Scene Part Two". Great song to finish album

Summary: 7/10 Really good rock album, wouldn't call it alternative, but really nice rock. Not genious lyrically, but some lines are remarkable. I will definitely listen other albums and maybe going to their festival show in july here.

best songs: Buletproof, Going To Town, Blame etc
  3. You should definitely see them live, they have an excellent reputation live. I saw them on a festival in 2012, they were great. Aidan saw them this year I believe without really knowing them and seemed very happy.
  4. No one else?
  5. I listened it . I like it but i want to listen it again
  6. I think I'll write my review tomorrow.
  7. I am going to submit my review in the next two days, haven't forgotten.
  8. Let's get these in by tonight if possible and move on to the next selection. Been real busy with work lately but I'll update this thread a little later with what we have coming up.
  9. Finally got some time to listen to this great album!

As some of you know, I was able to attend a show from those guys last month and it was really great, but I didn't got time to listen all the albums so I was really pleased with Olof's selection.

The album is really great and it's very consistent from beginning to end. Powerfull guitars and vocals at the biggest part of the songs result in a true rock n roll album I'll be listen to again during the next days.

The highlights in my opinion are:

Crime Scene Part One - Slow start, but it gets faster and powerfull in the end. It gives you a hint on what you're about to listen. Nice guitars, also.

My Enemy - Already knew this one, and it's one of my favorites from the album. Really powerfull. Guitar solo in the end is great!

Step Into the Light - It's really dark and sad, but it also has something beautiful on it. Like Sergio said it, it's one of those songs you feel related to it at some point of your life.

Going To Town - It's catchy and it has great lyrics and the best bassline of the album.

Bulletproof - Both guitars work really well here. Also, great lyrics and great drums during the chorus. It slows down in the end, and then those powerfull screams come and transmit something really powerfull! Magic from beginning to end.

Summer's Kiss - I love the guitars at the beginning of the song, and the way the song get stronger and stronger after it. Drums are great too. It's one of my favorites and it's easily a song I'll be listening to for many times from now.

Faded - Really great ending for this amazing album. They also ended their recent gig here playing this song and I've been listening to it since then. It's really awesome and it's probably the best song of the album in my opinon. I love the transition from a calm to a powerfull song in the chorus. This happen again and again but you can't get tired of it.
  10. A slow start to the album, very atmospheric is Crime Scene Part One. When you're not expecting it, Sy the tone changes to a repetitive guitar riff and some quiet vocals come in, but don't expect that to stay that way for long - as at three minutes, the tone changes yet again and it gets heavier. This is a great opener, love how it goes from quiet to loud then back to quiet.

My Enemy is the shortest song on here - it doesn't overstay its' welcome. Back to the heavy rock sound. Some sweet hard sound here, almost Pearl Jam-like.

Double Day is another dynamic rocker - that it changes from quiet to loud then back to the quietness. I do like Greg's voice a lot, even if at times it sounds a little, um, off - the backing vocals compliment this one perfectly too; albeit buried under everything.

Violins and a very funky riff are the order of track four Blame Etc. This one changes around a fair bit and that's why I like it. The vocal style almost sounds down - and that's what gives it the power it has. Perfectly angry and perfectly balanced between everything: 'What you gonna dooo!!!' Damn right, what are you gonna do.

Step Into the Light is a slow ballad (as ballads tend to be). While slow, it's not really the instrumentation that matters - it's the words that are heartfelt, true and honest.

Going To Town puts up the rock again. Very cool bass line and lyrics. Really like the vocal style of this, again like this album has done so much - quiet to loud then back to quiet.

Honky's Ladder is track seven. There's a cool almost-hidden guitar sound here that works for this track. Love this one - there's just something awesome about it that I can't quite pick; it just is great. Maybe it's the screamed vocals, maybe it's the ringing guitar, maybe it's the line 'I got you motherfucker...' Who knows. Fuck, I love it all.

Some more violins and quiet vocals, this time for Night By Candlelight. This could be one of the more interesting pieces for this album - the way it's so slow and dramatic with the orchestration.

Bulletproof...hmmm. Good guitar, lots of screaming. Yet I didn't like it - at least not until the little bits of piano came in.

Summer Love is a great rock and roll track. Builds up and comes in slowly yet it continues to get better - just a shame it wasn't longer because it deserves to be. Those vocals as well, fuck. You can just imagine how much of a joy this one would have been to record.

And finally, Faded at 8:30 starts with the slow intro sound that Crime Scene Part One had and then on to some piano - and from the first second it's perfect. THIS is the end this album deserves, nothing less than grand, long and stunning. But you don't expect screams like that. Just when you think Faded is coming to an (undeserved) ending - it's all gone quiet tonight - a solo rips through. It reminds me of how Pink Floyd's High Hopes gets to an ending then that solo comes in. Wow, just wow. Perfection.

And after that ends too soon, you're left wanting more. Finally we hear the tinkling piano over delay and everyone's on the train home.

    Good Fucking Night!!!!

This is a great album, make no mistake about it. 9 / 10. Top three tracks: Nigher Love, Step Into The Light and of course, Faded.
  11. HEY GUYS!

Sorry about the delay. I don't think anyone is truly hurting from taking a little breathing room in between these "weeks" (though its turning out to be more like ten-day periods)...so as long as nobody minds me being a little swamped with work, we can continue the way we are now. It gives people more time for reviews etc anyway!

But, it is finally time to move on. Our next selection comes from AidianFormigoni, who has chosen a special and unique album to throw into our mix.

    A note from Aidan:

"Many of you know Joss Stone is my favorite female singer and I know many of you never heard anything from her, so it was pretty easy to choose this album when Matt send me a message.

The Soul Sessions - Vol. 2 actually has only cover songs on it, but since it's Joss Stone lastest album, this is the point where this beautiful lady improved herself and was able to extract all the talent and the exactly balance from her powerfull voice.

    Hope you like it!"
  12. One fun fact about Joss Stone is that she's signed to the booking agency that I now work for, so we book all of her tours
