Has he actually done anything "relevant" in music other than having a huge "solo" album that Snoop Dog did most of the actual performing? Producing some hits, sure, but as an artist? Nothing.

I am pretty much laughing at the person who is suggesting Dre and U2 would be doing anything. As much as "Boots" was a failure of a lead single...it was bigger than anything Dre has done in ages.

I always think pleasegone is off his rocker but he is being legit here...all of Dre's songs in recent years have been #Fails.

I've been drinking so forgive me if that doesn't make sense.

It was mainly just to your "mainstream now" sentiment, but we share the same opinion ultimately.
  3. Anyway, the 9th is around the corner and the rumour mill has stopped in recent days. Does anyone know where the band is now? They were in LA last week, I heard.

No news is same news, so I guess they haven't moved around. Nevertheless, I think it was just Edge and Bono who were there
  5. As someone else pointed out though, U2 tend to do a lot of their mastering in LA.
  6. If the single is gonna be out in a few days, then the album should be already mastered (aka totally finished) and already being pressed I think.
  7. That's true actually. Unless the single is coming out like a month in advance. I just don't really know how long that whole process takes from mastering the CD to having it ready for store shelves.

Actually, dylbagz posted this in the sightings topics. It's from a couple of days ago:

    Josie Dye ‏@josiedye:
Wanna meet celebs? Take a flight from LA to Toronto during TIFF. @katebosworth @awolnation @U2 on one flight!

Seems like "U2" went to Toronto, for the film festival.
  9. ok guys, this is what my mind is thinking right now: we won't see u2 playing at apple's presentation, we won't have the album charged on the iphone, we may hear the new single from this week and my guess is that it will be featured in new iphone's tv ad....

I don't know how it is for a worldwide band+corporation like U2, but I know the figures for smaller bands... Albums are on the shelves not less than 3 months after the mastering has fully ended and the album is ready to be pressed. And that's just for 20-30.000 CDs and distributed only in Spain and selected Latin America cities, not for +1 million units distributed worldwide (I guess that procces would take even longer)... So if U2's album is set to be released in, let's say, mid-November, the mastering should have ended in mid-August at the very latest. I can be wrong and this can work out faster for some bands of course, but that would be my estimation.
  11. Daniel Lanois just tweeted: Lots Of Big Announcements Coming Tuesday 9/9...
