1. Yep, it's a fine day for those being fan of both Apple and U2, including myself. I still hope Apple will release some press announcement after the event stating that most viewers were actually U2 fans
  2. I'm cringing at the thought of Bono making a lengthy speech about apple the visionaries. I expect a lot of twitter hate. I'll see how it plays out before I judge.

Still cannot think of U2 actually announcing/promoting their new album at an Apple event, y'know? Sounds sort of weirdly out of place to me.

    Thinking the same thing.

If anything it makes more sense for it to just end up on sale at the iTunes store during the Apple press conference than Bono going up there and talking

U2 are in Cupertino, California, for the much-anticipated launch of Apple’s new iPhone 6 on Tuesday, The Irish Times can confirm.

Over the last few days, rumours have been circulating about a possible U2/Apple iPhone6 collaboration. However, these were dampened by the band’s official spokeswoman saying yesterday: “They are not releasing their album on the iPhone and they are not performing at the iPhone launch.” That statement was accurate, but the band will be appearing at today’s big launch, albeit not performing; and while the album will not be officially released, it will be available to be streamed on the device.

It now appears that a U2 music video shoot on the Samuel Beckett bridge in Dublin a few weeks ago was not a U2 video shoot, but an Apple iPhone 6 ad featuring the band.
  6. Oh, and this was the BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS that Daniel Lanois talked about in his twitter the other day New album ready for pre-order and tour dates. Damn.

Why would anyone be interested in that?!

Latest rumour seems to be that Bono will be the new Siri voice, what do you guys think of this?

  9. Perhaps he's just promoting a new (Red) product?

I agree, and they won't be getting undivided attention... On the other hand, if the album will be available on streaming on the new iPhone, that'll likely boost their sales; and if U2's next album is any decent, U2's presence will probably boost Apple's sales too. Looks like everybody would win... But yeah, U2 in 1987 or 1991 certainly wouldn't have done it... then again, they're twice as old (!) and the market really is much tougher... we'll see!

Haters gonna hate, who cares. If it happens it will be a brilliant marketing move. And this is coming from someone who does not prefer products from Apple
