1. What are your predictions for which songs will receive single releases from Songs of Innocence?

I honestly believe that this is perhaps the first album where any song would make a good single -- I wouldn't even say that for Achtung Baby.

I'm thinking there will/should be five singles, but I feel one of them will probably be digital only.

-The Miracle (of Joey Ramone) has pretty much confirmed as the lead single, and not a bad choice
    - Every Breaking Wave seems like a natural single too
-Volcano also seems like single bait, but it could just as easily be replaced as a single by Cedarwood Road, so there can be a heavy hard rocker single
-Song For Someone seems like another single waiting to happen. I suppose they could go with The Troubles for a slower single but I feel like Song For Someone is a more natural radio song
-For the last single, which would probably be the digital only one, really any of the songs could work, but I'd have to make a case for what is really becoming my favourite of the new album: Iris (Hold Me Close), it'd be a beautiful choice

what do the rest of you guys think?
  2. I would opt for The Troubles as a single, at least if the purpose of a single is to draw attention to the album, to U2 and gaining some new fans. It's very Coldplay-ish.
  3. Not what I wish but what I think would be clever martketing-wise:

    1) The Miracle
    2) The Troubles
    3) California
    4) Raised By Wolves
  4. California and Miracle have to be singles. They're perfect for it.
  5. 1) The Miracle
    2) Every Breaking Wave
    3) Volcano

Not necessarily this order, but I think these are the three they'd consider. The Troubles would be great to hear on the radio (not that I'd hear it) too.
  6. The Miracle
    California
    Song For Someone
    Iris

This will probably change as I listen to it more

Yes, I think these three. I'd love to see The Troubles realised as a single.

These Danger Mouse tracks. They're GOOD!
  9. The Troubles could do well I think. Definitely the most 'hip' sounding track on the record.
  10. I guess it all depends on how quickly Songs Of Experience comes? I remember thinking that there were several songs on JT's first 20/20 Experience that should have been released as singles but weren't because Part 2 came out about 6 months later.

I'm Happy With Miracle as the first. I think Every Breaking Wave and Song For Someone should follow.
  11. The Miracle
    California
    Song For Someone
    Iris

I will now add Volcano to the list .
  12. The Miracle
    California
    Volcano/Cedarwood Road
    The Troubles
