    Must. Resist. Temptation.

There's no way I could wait until Tuesday with you guys discussing and discussing all weekend!
  2. CD really is quite good.

    The new tracks absolutely rock.

New mix of Sleep Like a Baby Tonight is interesting - it sounds like a previous stage of the song, rather than an alternate mix. Glad we have it, but glad to have the album version too.

California is almost better in the alternative stripped down version. Raised by Wolves sounds good acoustic. Cedarwood Road is OK.

EBW: mmm, not as moving as Bono had predicted...

Invisible is a great track! Present version may be a little slow. But good!
  3. The Troubles, also previous version of the song...

A longer album for a change would have been excellent (specially since both Lucifer and Ballroom fit sonically and thematically with the rest of the album), and then leave the acoustic session + Invisible + the alternate versions for the bonus CD. Missed oportunity

This actually made me wonder how a "complete" SOI would look.

    My attempt:

    01 - The Miracle
    02 - Every Breaking Wave
    03 - California (acoustic version)
    04 - The Crystal Ballroom
    05 - Song For Someone
    06 - Iris
    07 - Volcano
    08 - Lucifer's Hands
    09 - Raised By Wolves
    10 - Invisible
11 - This Is Where You Can Reach Me Now
    12 - Sleep Like A Baby Tonight
    13 - Cedarwood Road
    14 - The Troubles

    A missed opportunity, definitely.
  5. Should have been:

    The Miracle
    Lucifer's Hands
    Every Breaking Wave
    Song for Someone
    California (acoustic)
    Iris
    Volcano
    Raised by Wolves
    Cedarwood Road
    Sleep Like a Baby Tonight
    Crystal Ballroom
This is Where You Can Reach Me Now
    The Troubles
    Invisible
  6. Another good take at it, Dylan.

God, Crystal Ballroom is so effing good. It might become one of my favorites from the album eventually!!
  7. Maybe it is not allowed to ask this here, but I'll take the risk

    (...)

I have the luxe version ordered yet, but I think I have to wait until next week when it arrives at home. My girlfriend is not at home this weekend, so the whole weekend U2 loud in the house.

You're right, requests for illegal material are not allowed haha. Good luck!
  9. Apart from The Crystal Ballroom and the alternate perspective mix of Sleep Like A Baby Tonight, this second disc does nothing for me. The acoustic tracks are awful, Lucifer is really boring, and The Troubles is nowhere near as good as the album cut. Even Invisible is a letdown, it may be longer but apart from the outro, it sounds like I could've lengthened the RED edit myself to achieve a similar result. Disappointing.
  10. I much prefer the acoustic session version of Song for Someone and I think Lucifer's Hands would be a superior opener to The Miracle on the album. I think the extra disc is useful as it gives us all the opportunity to burn our own version of the running order. Thank you Internet!
  11. My running order atm without hearing any of disc 2 bar the 2 new songs would be the following (keeping it to 11 songs)

    1. Miracle
    2. EBW
    3. California
    4. Song for Someone
    5. Iris
    6. Lucifer's Hands
    7. Cedarwood Road
    8. The Crystal Ballroom
    9. Sleep Like A Baby Tonight
    10. This is where you can reach me now
    11. The Troubles

I agree whole heartedly, apart from the acoustic EBW being heartbreakingly beautiful. The acoustic versions are boring, but they DO show that these are well written songs and not overpriced pieces of studio magic.
