  2. They only just pulled off Glastonbury. Judging by live streams from the BBC, most old bands seem to lack something on that stage. Springsteen seemed to bore the crowd, as did Neil Young. The Rolling Stones weren't exactly thrilling to watch either. I don't know what it is.

I kinda fear it as well.
But I can't think of many acts that make a whole festival, that always takes places at the same weekend, change its date...
They're not going to do it for Ed Cheeran.

  4. I'd be really shocked if U2 started performing at festivals. They've never done that before and there's no reason for them to start now.

Typically, bands will do festivals to warm up for their proper tour. Coldplay and Muse both did it before their world tours, but to be honest those two bands really needed the warm-up whereas U2 already has a ton of touring experience.

    Give me your fancard.

  6. If you want them to play festivals... Give me yours!

(Although I'd be in the same boat as you if they were to play at a festival a few kms away from me lol)
  7. But think about it. Are festivals really preferred for diehard U2 fans? Entry is often way more expensive than it would be for a proper gig and you'll be stuck with crappier seats. You'd have to deal with all the U2 haters who will complain whenever an old song like Streets or WoWY comes up. You don't get to see U2's ingenious stage design and crew at work, you know, the things that happen behind the scenes to make a proper gig just right. Plus, you will not get any surprises in their set. Festival sets are almost always going to be a showcase of their greatest hits and that's all. There's also the fact that more festivals means less proper shows during the tour, and nobody wants that.

    So where's your fancard now?
  8. You're obviously right, I think we're all misunderstanding each other, virtually no one would prefer seeing "their" band in a fest over a proper concert.

I actually said "I fear it as well".
So, I'm not a fan of them playing festivals either.
(Although I'd probably go if they're 30km away from me)

I just responded to the fact you said they've never played festivals, which is just completely wrong.

Reason : tour schedule of a big headliner.
Most heard names (rumours!) : U2 or AC/DC

Heard it on the radio, U2 popped in mind directly. Who else is so big that they adjust the date for it and will have a busy summer in 2015?
  11. Another one to take with a pinch of salt but a contact within ticketmaster said that The Script have surrendered their bookings for Croke Park next summer to a much bigger act.

Glasto is the one festival they've done in maybe the past 10-15 years or so. Technically, Slane Castle should be considered a festival, so I guess that's 2.
