  1. I didn’t think that SFS was actually bad at all. There were some big notes that weren’t gone for, but nothing that ruined the song. And I wouldn’t have noticed if I wasn’t the massive fan that I am.

    I've rewatched it and I think the band though they'd be doing it on stage instead of the sofa. Which explains their first reaction.

    Still imo it's kinda rude or strange or... I'd be in so much awe that I'd go "Ok, everything you wanna is just fine Mr. Bono". But then again, I don't get worldwide celebs on my couch every...day/week ?

    But euhm... Try to say that to eg Kanye West or something
    U2 is still so very down to earth and humble...
  3. tbh I'd be disappointed in them, if they started making a fuss about not doing it on the sofa or the stage or whatever. I also expect them to be able to play their most popular songs without a warning sorry, lads.

  5. +1 I'm sure that U2 don't really have any issue with a spontaneous performance they are at the end of the day professional artists that have been playing together for 37 years.
  6. I downloaded Graham Norton last night and loved it! They were relaxed and humorous and the performances were great! Miracle wasn't as good as the Apple event I don't think but it looked really good. Got a Vertigo Tour vibe. Song For Someone sounded amazing.
  7. There are some things to take into account before deciding whether or not U2 is comfortable with spontaneous performances. The first is that based on the equipment present, the performance was most likely planned. They may have been thrown off because the timing of the performance was different from what they had originally discussed. I'm pretty sure they want to time the performances so they lead into commercial breaks or whatever.

    But I really, really don't think we should be concerned by this.

    Maybe they were just playing it up? I'm sure they knew it was happening.
  9. We don't have commercial breaks.

    Nobody does two songs on Graham Norton, so perhaps they were just expecting to play it after the red chair feature that usually closes the show. Bono did ask if Graham was going to do it and he said they didn't have time. The instruments were ready, Graham probably wanted to have it part of the broadcast instead of hearing it after the show.

    We all know for years that U2 needs some time to understand their new songs.

    U2 is at their best half the tour, so keep patience.
  12. I guess it was all acted. A sort of PR-move to make them look spontaneous (which they actually were) and to surprise the general audience (which they did, even us).

    And if the biggest band on earth can't play a song out of nowhere, than I'm lost.
