1. The fact I'm on a KISS spree at the moment really makes me want to go.
  2. I'm really surprised that Muse is confirming themselves for festivals in spite of not having anything new officially out.
  3. Because they know they will? Not everyone is finishing album few years...
  4. I guess that's true. I realized that my expectations of how often bands release new material was skewed when Coldplay released not one, but two full albums in the break between NLOTH and SOI.

But for Muse, this should be less of a surprise since they seem to be more inclined to troll around with festivals. I guess they're all still pretty young so they can handle that type of stuff.

They have something in the works. Same with Faith No More. They'll have new songs by then.

Please correct me if I am wrong but aren't festivals an "easy" way to tour when you aren't promoting anything....

....or is the philosophy to go to the festival with your new material to reach a wider fan base?

  7. Faith No More....I didn't realize they were still around...I saw them with GNR and Metallica back in '92.

    Man, I'm old.
  8. I seen Faith No More in July at Open'er - they actually headlined and attracted quite a crowd, which I was quite surprised by. They were really good, actually, and they played new songs.

    Both are right.

Bands often do festivals and present new songs (whether they're already released, soon-to-be-released or unreleased) in order to attract both their own fanbase -who obviously want to see the new material- and new potential fans.

Nevertheless, this is quite weird anyway BUT there have been notable similar cases. One springs to mind: Coldplay did a similar thing back in 2011, they played many of the new songs -to be included on Mylo Xyloto- on some summer festivals (notably including the biggest festival in the world), then went quiet for two months, and then released their new album in October -and presented it with a worldwide broadcast of a concert in Madrid

My personal guess though (specially after learning they are playing Rock In Rome, which is not an "usual" festival in the sense that it's just them performing one night, and then other bands performing other nights) is that they will release the album before the festival season, then play the fests as a warm-up, and then start their own tour playing European arenas from September on...

which would clash badly with the potential U2 tour

    ...if it happens...

and it would clash badly with my bank account health!

They broke up in 1997. First new single since then!!
