  3. Good grief. What is it with this song....the totally unexpected 'hit'.

    Agreed with others; this one is gonna go off. It's such a fun song that deserves to be in the set somewhere.
  4. I don't get it, a friend of mine who totally dislikes U2 heard Volcano and totally loves it. Also very fond of The Miracle and now discovering the album. He even bought tickets for Antwerp.

    There are so many better U2-songs than Volcano. Like, 150.
  5. Volcano is a great song to hear in the car and to sing with it. I think live Volcano worked well.

    Volcano is one of the few U2 songs that actually sounds like a traditional rock song. That's not to say that their other songs are bad, but we all know that U2 is well known for their unique sound. Besides, we need songs like this to act as a bridge for new fans. I got drawn in from Vertigo and other songs from HTDAAB.

    That's just it for me, too - Volcano is a song I put in the same camp as other "traditional rock songs" by U2, especially from HTDAAB (All Because Of You, Love and Peace or Else, and Vertigo, like you said)...Not my favorites but decent rock songs.
  8. It's a simple, straightforward rock song and that's why it's popular. Not like the heavier themes of Troubles / Raised By Wolves / Iris.

    It's a great song....built for live.
  9. Been listening to SOI a'lot lately and the more times I listen to this song, I feel like it sounds repetitive at the chorus. Thoughts?

    I suppose it is quite repetitive really. I can understand why it didn't get played too much on the I&E tour. It's a good song imo but not a stand out in what is a really good album.

    Yeah, it's a good song and I think it could have been played more often on the tour, but Glastonbury was miles better song...
