    What to say about this album. It's his least-known album, yet an absolute classic and even when it was delivered to Warner Brothers in 1983, they were not expecting an album owing to Alice's alcoholism and near-state of death. None of these songs have ever been played live and even AC doesn't remember recording or writing it.

    It's 2:45 AM on a Thursday to Friday night and this Daaadaaa (boom, crsshhh, dum-da-duuum, bzzzzyyyyyyaaaahhh), Daaaadaa (fzzzzzzz, grgrgrsschhh, bambuummm) intro is driving me crazy. I've had some pints and some tall drinks so this might well be my first Album of the Week review under the influence of our dear friend the Ethanol. Feel sorry in advance for any typos or lack of coherence. According to Drew's story about this album, Alice Cooper himself would be proud of my state. I don't know what you mean about nasty feelings, right?

    Enough's enough's enough's enough's enough's enough's enough's enough. I agree with whoever said this is about prostitution, but with a twist. This is a boy who got abused by his father when his mother passed away "When my mother died, she layed in bed and cried: "I'm going to miss you, my brave little cowboy"... I saw my father smile (a smile he tried to hide), he told me "Son, I've really got you now, boy."... Then the boy grew up and threw against that frustration agains prostitutes. Or something.

    I also agree with whoever said this is a theatrical album. Was it you Matt? My friend! So right. This is fucking theatrical for God's sake. It's like a don't know why. I wish I could review it in Spanish hahaha. It's like a sonic and lyrical rollercoaster, I found the word.

    No Man's Land is a Queen song featuring Alice Cooper in vocals. Deny it and ylou're lying. It's really 80s melodic hard rock. Love it, funny lyrics too. Poor kids without Santa, he just wanted to have some fun...

    Dis - lex - y - aaa!! Hmmm. Too theatrical for me I think. Or not. But didn't catch me. Wait, another pint might fix it. Ahh this lovely Dublin-made dry black stout.

    Gotta love me some Arabic influences. I've always had a soft spot for this music. Fell in love with this one instantly. I love the singing style, the lyrics (what the fuck does he talk about? don't have a clue. Love it)

    Huh, wait, an American mocking song? YEAH, I knew this album could get better. Love the irony, ahhhh. I love that mountain with those four big heads, I love a commie... if he's good and dead!! . Hahaha got me laughing in the middle of the night. Beer tastes better

    Fresh Blood, fresh horns, fresh synths... fresh sounds. Dark and funky stuff. How can someone write music and lyrics like this, and not even remember it? Holy God. I love the weird chord progressions all throughout and the bluesy guitar around 2:30 and then at 4:00. Lovely bluesy guitar. And the Desolation Row reference, ah, love it.

    Summary
    Too drunk for this - tomorrow it'll be better. All the first thoughts are here ^ anyway. I enjoyed it but it's a little too weird for my taste at times maybe. Or maybe it's my mind what's weird tonight. No, wait, it's just the album. It's awesomely weird and weirdly awesome.

  8. Excellent reviews everyone. Pleased it's also inspired some good thoughts - it's a strange album and probably the most 'experimental' one he's ever put out.

    Though, I am reliably informed by Drew that there are a couple of releases that must be swerved. All in all, an excellent start to this new round of selections.

    Lace And Whiskey, Special Forces and Along Came A Spider. Don't bother with these - and I'm saying this as a huge fan.

    My review will be coming in a few days. There's one particular song I want to highlight - as one of my top five AC songs, although you may be able to guess what it is.

  11. All I can say about this album is that it was clearly a dark time in Alice Cooper's career and it sounds like an utter shambles to me. I appreciate the experimentalism of it but it is bordering on appalling for me. Certainly not the album to get you into Alice Cooper.
