1. Yay... Sexy boots are sexy!!!

"In a separate article, Rolling Stone discusses some of the music-related highlights of the new Steve Jobs biography -- including some new info. about Jobs' relationship with Bono and U2. The article mentions that U2 and Apple were unable to strike a deal in 2009 to have "Get On Your Boots" featured in another iPod commercial, similarly to how "Vertigo" was featured in 2004."

I wonder would things have gone a little differently? I always said that the song needed to be featured in an ad or on a TV show similar to the way they did Vertigo (or the same way haha). I really love this song and I wish it had gotten the chance it deserves.
  3. GOYB in an iPod commercial would certainly have lifted it's sales.

Have to feel sorry for the song. We heard it for the first time on Irish radio, immediately followed by Radio 1 in the UK...and then never heard it again. Vertigo was a number one single here in the UK and I would say that was down to it's instant catch. Get On Your Boots was different, not only to Vertigo but to the rest of the charts. It still is different. i think the verses let it down a lot because they just sound empty. Bono, a clap and some cowbell thing. I think if Crazy Tonight had gone first (or even Magnificent) then the success of the album would've been better.

Crazy Tonight is almost the perfect radio song for today's culture and essentially placed higher than Magnificent but I guess it was a little too late. Even a Blackberry advert couldn't save it. I think I heard Crazy Tonight more on the radio than the other singles, didn't hear Magnifcent once.

EDIT: Perhaps we should all buy it off iTunes, relaunch it to number one
  5. The Crazy Tonight Remix used in the 360 shows would've probably done pretty well in ads here in the US. I really can't help but like that version. The original is not so hot, but the remix might have pulled a similar effect to Everything But The Girl's 'Missing' (the remix a bigger hit than the original). That's just me though, I seem to gravitate toward the unloved U2 songs lately.

I agree actually. I really thought they should have released the remix... but then again I also said I loved Boots which I think I'm in the minority so...

We both are, so it's all good, haha. Now that I think about it, Crazy would be PERFECT in a car commercial. It could be just a bunch of young ladies dressing up for a night on the town, they step in the ol' Toyota or whatever, and as it zooms down Times Square, we hear the "I Know I'll Go Crazy" chorus fire up. Seriously guys, that's the PERFECT car ad song!

Maybe they are but i dont wanna hear Bono and Edge singing it like that! Is fooking awful man, although the song isnt a bad song, its just let down by the lyrics.
The music is good and the song imo could've been better,it does have potential.Should'nt have been a single but i do enjoy it during 360 concerts for some reason.
  9. I didn't know that this had been released in full:

  10. Has anyone ever noticed that the GOYB video (which I love) looks hell of a lot like this Oasis vid?

Funny, because Noel Gallagher says the same (although naming it 'Sexy Boots' during the Oasis - Time Flies dvd.
  11. It's shocking to say the least (no pun intended)
  12. LOL, I'm revisiting this thread's first pages, when GOYB premiered... I remember that morning well at my ex's, sticking to the phone, tuning on the radio with a crappy internet connection, and checking the forums and laughing at you all xD From this post on the thing gets hysterically hilarious: http://www.u2start.com/topic/by-post/223620/ (Fuck the weather! Fuck sports! We want to hear the single! hahaha )

PS. It's also great to see most of the users who were around that morning are still around nowadays, 6 years later
