I remember my first computer had a 48k processor (Spectrum). My last PC before the Mac mini had a 850Mb processor and a 20Gb hard drive. It was massive when I got it (2000).

Nice Vista screens. I will never use it. Very happy with my Mac OS (still on Tiger, no need for me that I can see to go to Leopard)

    How's everyone today?

The old Spectrum. That's showing age.

It has morphed into the Tech Topic. My last computer before this current one (3.08GHz Intel, 512MB RAM, 80GB drive + 300GB external drive and ugly-as-arse blue case) was very similar but with a 1GHz Pentium 3 Intel processor and 20GB drive. Leopard is nice looking but from the experiences I've heard it's nothing better than the earliest MacOS - Tiger's the way to stay if you're enjoying it and it works. I remember Bill Gates saying once nobody needs more than 640K memory. Now it's 2.6GB RAM.

Currently on my PC Vista struggles particularly through Media Center, but MCE2005 is fine (just some last problems with HDTV signals), plus I'm seriously thinking about the Mac (dual-boot with MCE2005 purely for multimedia) or even Linux Ubuntu (beautifully simple and it looks nice).

    Oi!!

Yes, very happy with Tiger and only swayed by the pretty bits of Leopard + Time Machine. So will leave it as inevitably I will upgrade the laptop in the next couple years anyway (not having a SuperDrive is killing me).

I'm very happy with the mac as you knwo and if you run Parallels then jobs a good 'un.
  9. On a completely separate subject (didn't know which other topic to put it in so thought here would do) - how long has Bono been using teleprompter/autocue??

I was watching the BA Vertigo DVD last night and it's clearly visible. At first I thought it was just for his speeches and the Argentinian he attempts, but then noticed it scrolling lyrics during One. WOWY and OOTS at the very least. Also noticed him looking at it quite a lot.

I understand it's better than forgetting lyrics but he never used to use one that I can see (Paris DVD for example) and doesn't it cut down on improvisation and 'feel' in the song (esp songs like WOWY - I compared the performance with Paris immediately after and the difference was staggering!!).

Any comments for me on this one?

Edit: So, anyway, I started a separate topic about it......

Bloody hell, it's quiet on here today. You all got exams or something?

Prety bits always sway me. Seriously, Parallels is a great program. I think Nate might run it too (easports) because he was telling me he uses his Mac for gaming in Vista. Or he just runs Boot Camp.
