1. Interesting take, and I'd say I agree with you when looking at the albums thematically. Art is great in that it means what we want it to mean

Yep, and no interpretation is wrong as long as it's felt

My take on that "innocence albums vs experience albums" would be something like this:

    Innocence Night
(featuring songs mainy from their innocent albums - aka NLOTH, Rattle & Hum, The Joshua Tree, TUF, October and Boy)

01 - California (There Is No End To Love)
    02 - Out Of Control
    03 - In God's Country
04 - Iris (Hold Me Close)
    05 - Volcano
    06 - Rejoice
07 - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For / Stand By Me (snippet)
    08 - All I Want Is You
    09 - Song For Someone
10 - Pride (In The Name Of Love)
    11 - I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight
    12 - Cedarwood Road
    13 - A Sort Of Homecoming
    14 - Drowning Man
    15 - The Troubles
16 - Even Better Than The Real Thing
    17 - The Crystal Ballroom

    18 - Ordinary Love
    19 - Magnificent
    20 - Invisible
21 - Where The Streets Have No Name

22 - The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)
    23 - I Will Follow
    24 - ''40''

    Experience Night
(featuring songs mainly from their "experienced albums" - aka HTDAAB, ATYCLB, Pop, Zooropa, Achtung Baby and War)

01 - This Is Where You Can Reach Me Now
    02 - Cedarwood Road
03 - The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)
04 - Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
    05 - The Crystal Ballroom
    06 - A Man And A Woman
    07 - Dirty Day >
    08 - Sunday Bloody Sunday >
    09 - Like A Song
10 - When I Look At The World
11 - Stay (Faraway, So Close!)
    12 - Bad
13 - Where The Streets Have No Name
14 - Iris (Hold Me Close)
    15 - Kite

    16 - Sleep Like A Baby Tonight
    17 - Twilight
18 - If You Wear That Velvet Dress
19 - Original Of The Species
20 - One / Hear Me Coming Lord (snippet) / Unchained Melody (snippet)

    21 - Every Breaking Wave
    22 - Please
    23 - Raised By Wolves
    24 - Love Is Blindness
  3. I think everyone is wondering how the "Innocence/Experience" theme will manifest in this tour. Delineation by albums is a good one, but I really think they will try to make the split based on sound, as in acoustic vs. electric. However, I hope that the Innocence/Experience themes both play out in a single night. If the audience gets to experience both aspects in a single set, I think the overall impact would be greater.

No I don't think they'll take the acoustic/intimate vs electric route - that would be unfair for those who want to attend one kind of show and unadvertisedly got tickets for the other kind of show. I think they'll opt for a somehow thematic approach: one night "innocent songs" and the other night, "experienced songs", whether they take them from specific albums or in general. We'll see, only 3 months and a half left until the mistery unveils
  5. to be honest, I do not believe that there will be a lot of change going on in the setlist. I know they prommiesed it and they said it before ... but i don't believe in that. they will have 2 setlists evening one and two wich they going to play and that's it. they will play innocence plus backcataloge. experience will be when they hit the stadium/outdoor with the second album I think. but we will see. got tickets for nicht 1 and 4 ... so every surprise is a good one!

oots would be awsome some as lib - i still hope for these tune but hope is almost gone
  6. I don't think they've ever done shows in pairs before. Then again, from a logistical standpoint doing shows in pairs puts a lot less burden on the band regarding travel.
  7. Been thinking about this again lately and making different drafts. Here is what I have used the most lately:

    --Intro--
    1. This is Where You Can Reach Me Now
    2. California
    3. Beautiful Day
    4. Even Better Than the Real Thing / Until the End of the World
    5. Invisible
    6. City of Blinding Lights
    7. The Miracle
    8. Volcano
    --Acoustic--
    9. Angel of Harlem / Desire
    10. Cedarwood Road
    11. Song for Someone/ Stay / Staring at the Sun
    12. Edge solo spot: Sunday Bloody Sunday / Love is Blindness / Running to Stand Still
    --Back to electric--
    13. Bullet the Blue Sky / Love and Peace
    14. Raised by Wolves
    15. New Year's Day / Pride / Bad
    16. Every Breaking Wave (acoustic or electric, depending on the night)
    --Encore 1--
    17. Crystal Ballroom / Iris
    18. Discotheque / Mofo
    19. Mysterious Ways / The Fly
    --Encore 2--
    20. Acrobat
    21. Still Haven't Found / One
    22. Streets
    23. The Troubles

I would keep the first encore combination either the CB-Discotheque-MW or Iris-Mofo-the Fly. I think they sound so great together. I was thinking of some kind of Mofo-The Fly mashup towards the end. Edge could play the Fly's intro over Mofo's outro (just think about it) and then halt for Elevation tour style chorus and after that start the riff and the song normally.

Indeed! Not holding my breath, although I of course hope that SOE will be out soon. They might play all of SOI the first night, plus 8-9 songs, including some B-sides etc.; and have a more touring the singles approach for the second night. Or vice versa.

I actually think they should play all of SOI both nights . And rotate a second album. JT, AB... Just (half) kidding.
  9. This Is Where You Can Reach Me Now
    Volcano
    The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)
    Every Breaking Wave (electric)
California (There Is No End To Love)
    Mysterious Ways
Until The End Of The World
    God Part II
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

    Acoustic Full Band:
No Line on The Horizon (Helsinki Version)
    Desire
    Every Breaking Wave w/Orchestra
Running To Stand Still (Edge only)
Song For Someone (piano, then electric) (full band version)

    Back to Electric:
    Beautiful Day
    Bullet The Blue Sky
    Raised By Wolves
    City Of Blinding Lights
    Cedarwood Road
    Magnificent
    Sunday Bloody Sunday
    One
Where The Streets Have No Name

    E1:
    Sleep Like A Baby Tonight
    The Fly
    Elevation
    With Or Without You

    E2:
    The Crystal Ballroom
    The Troubles
    Iris (Hold Me Close)
    Vertigo
  10. I've been thinking about setlists recently, and tonight I checked out some of the setlists from Elevation tour - particularly the first North American leg. They sort of went a little crazy with variation for U2 standards. It makes me think with a relatively suitable stage set-up to allow variation, they could easily pull it off.

Looking at these Elevation tour setlists, 'The Fly' was predominately played in the encore. Apart from the last Chicago where they stuck it in second just after 'Elevation', then they played one of those rare performances of 'Even Better Than The Real Thing'. They changed it up as much as they could. I have faith it is going to happen this time around. Something tells me it will happen.

I think they'll introduce rarer songs into the set too, like 'God Part II' or 'A Sort of Homecoming'. Give me it all and I'll dip into bankruptcy to see everything.

For the opening date, I'm thinking something like this:

    1. The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)
    2. I Will Follow
    3. Beautiful Day
    4. Magnificent
    5. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
    6. Gone
    7. Until the End of the World
    8. California (There is No End to Love)
    9. Every Breaking Wave
    10. Desire
    11. Staring at the Sun
    12. Raised by Wolves
    13. Bullet the Blue Sky
    14. Sunday Bloody Sunday
    15. Volcano
    16. Vertigo
    17. Mysterious Ways
    18. One
    19. Where the Streets Have No Name
    20. Pride (In the Name of Love)

    21. The First Time
    22. Song for Someone
    23. Iris (Hold Me Close)
    24. With or Without You
    25. Love is Blindness (or The Troubles?)

I don't know. That was very difficult to compose, though.
  11. Just imagine that:

''Blitzkrieg Bop'' is coming out the PA ..............
Audiance is shouting ""hey ho let's go !! ""

A 3 D Screen flickers on and off with old images of Ramones and other Punk/Rock feel...............
    Than U2 takes over .................

    Miracle of Joey Ramone
    Raised by wolves
    City of blinding lights
    California
    Sweetest thing
    Volcano
    Iris
    A sort of homecoming
    Wire
    Song for someone
    The troubles
This is where you can .....................
    Bad
    The Unforgettable fire
    In god's country
    Love rescue me
    Party girl

    **** spotlight on The Edge****
    Running to stand still
    Drowning man

    Cedarwood road
    Every breaking wave
Sleep like a baby tonight /40
