1. Larry's dad, Larry Mullen Sr., passed away Sunday at Bons Secours Hospital in Dublin. He was 92 years old.

Here's a prayer for him and for his beloved and big family.
    R.I.P.

Larry Jr's bandmates are rehearsing for the opening gig of their new world tour at the moment, and in his eulogy he thanked them and the U2 crew for helping him make it home from Vancouver in Canada for the funeral before he flies back to join them on stage. "Nice one on the timing dad," Larry smiled from the altar as he described how his father had been sick only for a short time but was a man who was "truly ready to go".

He wasn’t sick very long, however he received bad news on Friday. He decided to exit his mortal coil on Sunday,” Larry explained. "I had an opportunity to speak to him on Saturday and he was overwhelmed by the care, love and support shown to him," he added.

  2. Peace be to his spirit and his family.

I think it's going to add a sad new dimension to the Experience aspect of their performance three days from now.
  3. The band will carry him like they carried Bono during Elevation. RIP Larry Mullen.
  4. Terrible news So sorry for Larry Jr, the upcoming tour and anything else don't matter in moments like these, he must be grieving. I would even understand if they had to postpone or cancel the Vancouver shows in order to Larry being able to attend the funeral and mourning...
  5. I wonder if the band will fly back for the funeral. It would certainly put them under pressure & mean skipping the dress rehearsal
  6. They have such bad personal luck when they want to tour :-(
  7. My most heartbreaking moment ever at a U2 show was when Bono sang "When will I see you again" at Slane
  8. So sorry to hear this dreadfully sad news.
  9. RIP Larry Mullen sr
  10. Larry Jr wrote this only a few months ago. It's now heartbreaking to read

  11. Rest in peace, Mr Mullen senior. This is very sad news, and I feel for his son, all of his family and all his friends.
Things like the tour and everything about it should play no role in a moment like this. Let us respect a great life having come to an end and Larry grieving for his beloved dad. Whatever his reaction will be,may he be supported and carried by his friends and fans along the way. My condolences :-(
  12. so sorry to hear this, my sympathies to larry jr and family in this tough time
may larry senior rest in peaceful sleep...
    xx oo
