Tour: Innocence and Experience tour
Songs played: 26
Audio recordings: 6
Videos: 1
  1. Was it the networks filming the show or U2 themselves? Could be an intresting addition somewhere if that footage popped up!
  2. Not sure why you would hire a group of musicians to tour with you and only use them for half the shows. Shame, EBW really needs it.
  3. Here is a quick summary from last night vancouver 1 show.

Historic show #25 for me (my home town of Vancouver!)
My position: #7 in line (camped out since monday morning)
My floor position, Adam side (north) front rail position, right in front of Adam.

Overall show :8.5->9.0 out of 10 (not the best I've ever seen BUT CLOSE). Show was SOLD out. First 250 people in the GA line were mainly NOT from Canada but were a mix of International Fans.. (EUR. AUS, Chile, MEX, USA,UK, NZ, (and others were all represented in the first 50!) CONTRA to what is out there on other boards, there were no issues and i personally had dozens of people thank me directly for helping/manage/organize the GA line!!

Overall Set List / Audience - for ME, this was an excellent set list that combined BOTH the historic hits from JTAB/UF/WAR/BOY and 8/9 newly recorded songs. PLEASE remember this is a TOUR for their new album, NOT a 25 year anni tour of AB/POP/Zoo days. The overall mix of songs, appear to have MET the expectations of the crowd (average age 40+). So if your a fan and 20-30 you will be a minority (except maybe on the floor!) During the playing from the b-stage I took in the overall sights and the audience in both the lower and upper seats were standing, singing/ dancing. This was different that most shows I've been too, where a fair amount of the seated customers only stand for parts of the show.
.. around 5:08-5:10 ... a little blocked by the mic.. but you can see Larry..mouth 'thank you' and nod his head"

For me, the highlights were PRIDE, BULLET and TROUBLE. (remember i was on the floor and the visual display was hard to see)

During TROUBLES, LARRY kit was directly moved in-front of me (5 feet) and I held up a sign (not mine but another front row person from red zone!) that read ' LEAN ON US'.. during the entire song I held the sign up in clear visual sight of Larry...during the song, at multiple time Larry and I made direct eye contact. At the end of the song we both had a slight tear in our eye AND I got a clear smile / nod and a THANK YOU.

Sound/lighting - just good for me, thought it should be better given a month of rehearsals, I have never seen the road crew work so hard at ANY show!!... and first change needed is to get ride of the 'paper' drop during EOTW. Edge sound was good/excellent. Larry appears to have added my drums / technology around him and pictures were almost impossible to get from the front row. Adam had trouble all night... Simon (tech) ran up and down from the underground all night and back and forth from B stage to front stage all night..

Both Adam/Edge were REALLY focused during all the new songs, this was expected, but at some points ADAM actually turned his back to the audience to look at his meters and focus on the playing / cords. Compared to historic songs, the new songs 'appear' to be more complex and harder to play This should change as the tour advances.

BONO - very high energy to start the show and continued during the entire show, good movement back and forth from the A-B stage and overall a solid voice. HOWEVER like bono does he messed up a few time, tried to ab-lib when he didn't need to, add snippets that weren't/arn't need, etc.

Visuals / Screen - I didn't get to view enough from the front row (more to come on this as I have seats for tonights show!)

As my wife and I drove away from the show, we began to recognize that the members of the band have changed. Since 1987 when I first saw 4 young men recklessly playing without a worry, to the mid 1990-2000's were the band evolved and grew. NOW the band consists of 4 professional artists who are combining their collective knowledge and experience to create pieces of art. SOI & (so to be E) are just that pieces of art! The tour will continue to be that ART will continue to adjust just like artists do

** I tried for 45 minute to get Pariscope to work, but without any luck, sorry to my U2start friends**

    beautiful.
  5. I'm thinking... How many songs they gonna play again tonight? I bet that Streets, Without You and Beautiful Day gonna be there but...
  6. Great review Scott! Thanks!
  7. Nice work by Larry on The Troubles and so many kits! I also like how he is keeping with the innocence theme by wearing his Artane Boys Band blue.
  8. Who has noticed the monitors at the front of the stage which are giving Bono rolling lyrics for each song?

Just noticed it when watching the footage of Out of Control.
