1. just had my first listen, sweet baby jesus what an album.
  2. Ohhh gotta get that! I love Brandon's voice
  3. Listening to the album now via itunes and WOW is it a work of art. If you're looking for a varied yet laid back album that's great for easy listening, this is the album for you.
  4. Sorry to break the excitement but... Just listened to it.

    Awful album and awful sound
I thought A-Ha had retired long ago and the 80s pop sound was dead, but it seems Brandon doesn't think the same.
  5. Fair enough. From Brandon's perspective, this album is probably where he sounds most comfortable but he clearly disregards the current musical trends. When some people do that it pisses people off, but when Brandon does it he pumps out something a lot of people like. Then again, Brandon's voice and style is very particular and unless you like that voice you probably won't like the album.
  6. I'm a huge Killers fan, I obviously do like Brandon's voice. What I don't like is an album full of crap poppy sounds that are 30 years old

I agree. And this sound is all over the last 2 killers albums which were no good IMO. Sams town seems to be the peek fir them. It's all been downhill since
  8. After listening to the album and seeing him live, I have to say I find the songs energetic and refreshing, especially considering some of the filler we were getting from the last two Killers albums. Clearly he's enjoying the freedom of going solo.

Glad you're enjoying it. I always root for him to sell well but it's just not my cup of tea. SAMs Town is one of my fave albums so this direction is clearly not my taste.
  10. This is radically different than Sam's Town and Hot Fuss, obviously their best albums both musical and lyrically.

I actually liked Battle Born even with the poppy sound because it had energy and the synths weren't all over it the whole time, but his solo work... no thanks
  11. There really isn't much to say about people disliking The Desired Effect though. The album is very clearly full of musical themes that feel outdated. I can't really explain why, but it comes off to me as comfort music and not super annoying.
  12. I do want to say that I applaud Brandon for doing this album. He's a smart guy, so I'm certain he knew that the sound he was going after was one that died off a long time ago. But he probably felt most comfortable doing it this way and probably wanted to produce something he enjoyed doing. Props to him for doing that.
