  2. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part, but I don't think this will become 360 part II.

    360 was a monster, it was huge and they had to sell out tons of stadiums or else it would've been the biggest flop in music history. I don't liked it but I can understand why they got nervous about playing that show for a half empty stadium.

    This time it should be totally different, and they should be able to stick with the new songs, which they're happier with them to begin with and they're a central part of the production (JR, Iris, CR, SFS, Wolves and EBW will be there almost every night, and TT, Cal and probably the other ones would be in rotation).

    About the producers yes I agree, just finish the album and get it out before someone tells you that your song needs a because because because chorus, please.

    MoS really must have been a great moment in the studio, if it's true that the song was mostly recorded live. I'd have been shivering throughout. And the new album really is good! They've left out some great songs, such as Volcano and TIWYCRMN. I don't think the new songs will wear out during the tour - I'm actually quite confident we'll get to see some new material live next year.

    And: I think Danger Mouse did some fantastic production work on SOI!


    Hay, it is more than fair to call my view pessimistic. I also think it's fair to call it realistic. I didn't mean to imply that the producers did such a bad job, but I don't think anything was all that new, groundbreaking, fresh, or as amazing as Bono says in interviews. And leaving out Volcano from the show makes no sense...

    And your view that they don't give up the new songs is probably overly optimistic, but that's fine. Even though SOI is not my favorite album...I would much rather hear newer songs. So I hope you're right and they keep playing 6-8 new songs each night...

    And it might be SUPER SUPER optimistic to hope that SOE songs get in there at some point.
  4. I see - I think the last three songs on SOI are actually quite fresh, especially the first two of those last three. And, I think, Iris is a new powerful U2 song. It is really rocking live. I haven't kept listening to a new U2 song live in a long time - for me at least that's something. If we add this to a good opener, EBW, a quite nice love song (SFS), Volcano, and two Boy-October sounding songs, I think we've got here a pretty good mix of songs...

    Of course I'm being super optimistic about SOE songs in the actual tour - but I really think there's a decent chance the tour will stretch into next year, and that, if this happens, we'll get to see, and hear, new songs live.
  5. The way I see it, you can't ask for SOE to have new sounding songs and ask for it to sound like Pop. U2 has been keen to forget Pop so I don't expect them to bring back that sort of sound anytime soon.

    Alex....Of course, the temptation is to remind everyone for the 1 Billionth time that the awful Remix of "I'll Go Crazy" played on nearly every 360 show, was their attempt to take Walk On's weaker cousin, and make it sound like a Pop outtake. But if I make even one more post about how I don't like it, I'll probably be banned from the site! So I'd never do that. To this day, I'm dumbfounded that they publicly and privately hate Pop, but ruined this song trying to make it sound like a Pop song. It would be like a dance remix of "40," some things you just need to leave alone.
  8. What happens on the tour when SoE is released? How will they change the setlist?
  9. IF they release it, I think it will be similar to Zooropa into the Zoo TV setlist: the new SOE songs will take the place of some oldies & some SOI songs in the set.
  10. I see, do you see The Morning After Innocence opening the second set?
  11. Have you heard the song already? Now seriously, it can obviously fit if they opt for a [set 1 = innocence / set 2 = experience] scheme again next year.
  12. And tomorrow U2 changes the name of that song to "Love, Surrender, Oh Oh Baby" (or other U2isms) and the whole theory collapses.
