    Volcano is pretty similar to Vertigo in a lot of ways, but not as good or as known. It's one or the other really. I expect Vertigo will be the one to make way tonight if those rumours are true.
    I really thought we had a chance of hearing all songs of the album. We still might as the tour goes on. I love the flow of the first half of the show. I just wish there were more SOI songs in the second half. Especially the dull encore.

    11 hours to go for another Phoenix show! Damn I really hope these rumours as to Volcano and IEM recordings are true.


    I saw the tweet the U2start account got from that guy (about Volcano) but is he someone close to the band? To me it seemed more like a fan predicting something.

    Would've been nice to let people know back in December that certain areas would have an "obstructed view." Oh well.


    Wouldn't be so hard to put screens at either end showing what's happening on the main screen
  10. Alright, I have a couple cups of coffee in me to wake me up because I was beat after last night. Here's my little more in depth review from the show last night.

    Like most of us I bought these tickets long before we learned what the stage/screen/production looked like. These tickets were a last minute thing for me and a friend so I got some cheap nosebleeds in the corner of the arena not expecting much. But when we learned what the show looked like I was very worried we wouldn't have a good view of the stage and the screen. All my worries were put to bed once we got inside because, all things considered, it was a pretty nice view.



    As far as the actually show goes, it was quite simply fantastic. I went in thinking I knew more or less what the set was going to be and, while I did for the most part, there were a handful of surprises. From the start of the show even. The band walking on to People Got The Power got me completely off guard and I wasn't ready at all and was all that more surprised when the boys walked on stage. All in all a pretty good opener in person. The crowd, while standing still, was still quite loud. Awesome to hear Electric Co, I had never gotten the chance before. The Send In The Clowns snippet was done well and made the song that much better. Business as usual til the intermission, all great performances. And let me note that this has to have been the loudest indoor U2 show I've ever heard, the car bomb intro to Wolves and the outro to UTEOTW rattled my rib cage like crazy and it was truly 'awesome' (every pun intended).
    I will be absolutely honest, Invisible is falling a little flat for me. Just doesn't have the energy I feel it could have for whatever reason. I was a little suspect about them using the Fish Outta Water Even Better Mix for the 2nd tour in a row but it is still holding up good. High energy and a slight change to the screen graphics for the song made it for a cool experience.
    In God's Country, of course, was awesome to hear. Also another first time song for me in person. The fan did pretty well considering he was jumping around half the time. And even though Bono fudged the lyrics a little bit, still a great performance. One of my favorite parts of the night was when Bono completely forgot the piano part of Sweetest Thing, the look on his face was absolutely priceless. And while some might be annoyed and something like that it showed how loose they were, not stressing about it, just playing through it. They were relaxed and it showed.
    EBW sounded pretty good, it's at a difficult place in the set for Bono to sing it at a high level but he powered through it and it still was a good performance. A very small change that made a song 100x better was Edge playing the full intro to Bullet instead of messing around on the guitar til he got to Dallas back on the main stage. Bono's Private Plane's rap/speech is pretty cool, and had high energy/emotion that the San Jose didn't in my opinion.
    I haven't heard Bad in almost a decade so that was amazing to hear.
    I'm just not sold on Still Haven't Found as a closer, however. It's a nice sing along which I'm sure that's what they were going for to end the show and it was cool that Edge played it all the to the tunnel after leaving the stage (and he didn't fall off of himself, woo!) but it just feels like a higher energy song could be used or even The Troubles I feel would be a nice ender.
    But the show in it's entirety was absolutely amazing. Quite possibly one of the best I've ever seen in person.

    There is 1 big thing I did take away from the show though. As much as many people on this forum (myself included) aren't a fan of the old warhorses hanging around, Pride, BD, WOWY, ect. It really was a big part of the show for several, several fans. I went with someone who not only isn't a huge U2 fan, but had never been to a concert period. And while she knew all the SOI songs (Thank you iTunes) I was worried she wouldn't really know any others. But when all those warhorse played she was jumping around singing along laughing that she knew more songs than she thought. I can't be upset about the warhorses after last night. They are a huge part of the show and have the crowd up and loud.

    So here's to getting California, Volcano (fingers crossed anyways), The Troubles, and Miracle Drug tonight. Check in with y'all later on.
