  1. yes! they have to try at least, put in different parts of the set, see where it works, I think Troubles would work in any part after The Wanderer
  2. 11 O'Clock, The Ocean... Interesting. I'm pretty sure they must have rehearsed these ones earlier at their private rehearsal rooms though. Let's see! Tonight could be a real treat!

  3. Don't get me wrong, I'm hoping with you, but if we all had a nickel for every time we've said that...

  5. early in the set like that would be a true banger

ohhhh good call. too good of a call.
  7. They could perform both tonight and tomorrow as a test like they did for the Glastonbury set during Anaheim 2011????

...We would actually be in attendance tonight!

@Ali It makes sense, playing 11 O'Clock at the Roxy is definitely a must.
  9. Gimme 11 and Troubles and this one climbs up to the first spot of my ranking so far.

The roxy show opening with Ocean/11 would be epic. Even better? closing it with 11/Ocean.

My issue with Bono saying "We just don't know where to put that in the set" is that that's not really a good enough excuse. If you want to play The Troubles because it worked so well in rehearsals, they play it in different parts of the set to see where it works. Drop a song and play it.

This band always talks about how well connected they like to be to their fan base, yet they frequently seem so terrified to take risks for them.

If you ask me, the biggest risk of the setlist is Miracle Drug! A re-worked chorus on a song that wasn't even that popular to begin with, and its in the encore! Initially, I would have said that Sweetest Thing was the biggest curveball, but even that was a single and is on the greatest hits album - they aren't really digging very deep for that slot. And they'd have downright gotten crucified for not recognizing BB with WLCTT after he died.

It would be great if they messed with The Troubles a bit. Shook it up. Maybe to close the show instead of Still? (DUH.) Maybe to open the encore, close the main set, bring it out of the acoustic- b-stage section...it would keep diehards on their toes, and the casual fans none-the-wiser while they got to play a song they are trying to convince us they're passionate about.

    End rant.
    Unless...

...this show is not about the songs and they're actually trying to tell a story.
If that's the case then it makes perfect sense that they can't seem to find it a place.

I believe that they don't care that much about the "risk", they care about their story. Miracle Drug fits perfectly in the encore, between Stephen Hawking's speech and the HIV-themed Streets. That's why it's there, not because it sounds good or because people -either casuals or die-hards - would like it.

Troubles is the transition between blaming other people (the whole first half and the second up until Bono justifies himself to his younger self) to understanding that actually "the trouble is you"... that fits where they originally intended, but musically it falls flat in that moment... so it's not that easy to experiment with the spots (definitely not the closer, that's not how their story seems to end).

Or probably they're not telling any story and they're just being lazy and obtuse.
