Tour: Innocence and Experience tour
Songs played: 25
Audio recordings: 5
Videos: 1
  1. Anyway I'm happy I'm going to three pairs of shows where I know I'll get at least 4 different songs on the second nights. This was never a given before with U2. My pairs of shows are all in different months so there's a good chance that the rotating songs will change too
  2. I think it's great the way the show turned out. In my opinion, it's been way better than the 360 Tour. More intimate, more story telling (both visually and the ad hoc interaction with the fans), more songs off the new album. I'm thoroughly enjoying going back and revisiting the whole "Songs of Innocence" album. Iris and Cedarwood Road are really great tracks (both live and on the LP).

The band has had to deal with an unprecedented set of circumstances involving injuries and funerals. I think they deserve a ton of credit for honoring all of their commitments. The variety of up to 5-6 songs per night seems very fair to me.

I've been going to Depeche Mode concerts for about as many decades as U2, and you're lucky to get 1-2 variations in the set list over the course of the entire tour, and it's mostly the acoustic stuff that Martin Gore sings that gets rotated.

Playing devil's advocate, though, I agree that it was misleading and they did admit that they changed their minds.
    I just insist:
    *It was better this way.
*This doesn't cover any expectations for shows 3 to 8, and...
*They are still bringing enough rotation to the setlists
All your opinions. Not facts btw.
  4. Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce
  5. Thanks for your passion, but a quadruple post wasn't neccesary
  6. 1 and 3 yes, total opinions. The second one it's a fact, though... they never mentioned anything about those shows.

But like you said, back to the shows...

Dude. It's my opinion that there wasn't enough variation in 5 shows at the same venue to get ME excited to see that many shows. Ok? When I made the initial comment I was venting on a board that I come to all the time. I didn't expect to run into their lawyer. Glad you're happy with the variation but believe or not, some other people aren't. Damn. Enough. Back to the la shows discussion....
That's basically IT and no further discussion is needed on rotation slots or disappointed hopes. Everyone has the right to consider 4/6 songs per night more than enough or absolutely not enough. Everyone has the right to approve or disapprove the band's final approach to their setlists. And all of those considerations are equally valid, so no need to repeat it over and over again, reaching sour arguments like this huh?
  8. Haven't been around until now so here are some thoughts after reading through the pages:
    1. Volcano and Ordinary Love sounded nice! I just skimmed through the videos because I want to keep the new songs as sort of a surprise till I see them.

    2. Love that they broke out Volcano but I wish it was somewhere else in the set? I feel like this songs begs for cool effects.

    3. People seemed to be into Ordinary Love! That's great!

    4. Regarding the setlist complaining- Shut up? Seriously people. This bitching is getting really annoying and it seriously makes me question whether or not I want to be a member of the forum. I don't mind debate...it's great. I like that people disagree and present different views about a band that we are obviously all very attached to and passionate about.

No one put a gun to your head and said you had to go to more than one show. I for one am happy they chose the set-up they did. I used my presale to get my tickets so I could only choose one show and I was nervous I was going to pick the "wrong" one (whatever that might mean). (I'm still scared I'll miss Out Of Control at Toronto 2).

I keep thinking that this might be the first time someone gets to see the band. It would be a shame if they missed out on some songs because the band had two different shows.

The bitching is getting annoying? Shut up? Lol. Ok. You don't mind debate but you're sick of people who feel differently about the setlist state their opinion. So u tell them to shut up? Haha. I'm done here with this subject

No. It seems like exactly what I said it is: bitching.

"Blah blah blah. No variation. I'm getting rid of tickets I bought. Blah blah blah."

It just comes off as very negative.
  11. i can't wait for this back and forth to begin in the denver thread!
  12. Volcano sounded flat as a pancake. Could just be a poor video but things sounded more promising back when they played it on Jools Holland.
