  2. Do they even know there's a tour ?

IE features the greatest theatrical use of technology of all the tours. Popmart really felt lost. Sure they had a big screen, but it was pretty much there for the sake of having it. The same could be said about the lemon as well.

I agree while also disagreeing. I think the "superficial," trashy nature of PopMart was exactly the point. That's why Bono has even said that PopMart was their "finest hour" aesthetically and "a clearer idea than ZooTV as an art project." The lemon, the gigantic screen, the costumes, the "boxing match" entrance, Edge karaoke, the disco encore, all of it. Man do I wish I would have become a fan back when I was 10 and seen it! Of course, I say this as one who still thinks Zoo TV is their best, and might even rank 360 above PopMart simply because of personally experiencing it!

And possibly after seeing I & E shows in Chicago my preference might further change. Having seen both 360 and I & E shows now yourself, would you (others, too?) be able to compare them, or are they too different and is it too early to rank against each other just yet?
  5. Elevation and 360 are my favourite tours. Though only having seen the first two of this new tour, it could change. 2016 will decide it.

I cannot fully rate the Vertigo tour as I only saw 1 show, my hometown show at Honolulu. Ditto for POPmart as I only attended Oakland I.
  6. I made some comments about the Popmart tour and why the ideas behind it were lost upon Americans (hence why the band didn't consider it successful). The short of it was that U2 was emulating, commentating, and mocking a culture that was far too ingrained in society at the time for people to actually get it, and that was consumer culture. People saw it and reacted the same way they reacted to Rattle and Hum. "Are you trying to tell us what our culture is?"
  7. bonos muscle costume in popmart was badass

That is a very good point.

    Sure, irrelevant to this topic...

But a really good point (I'm serious).

Now, can we go back to IE Tour discussions?

  9. Having been to a couple IE shows myself, I actually think a couple Pop songs can nicely fit into the overall narrative of the show, specifically Gone and Staring At The Sun.
  10. Alright boys 'n berries! My first I&E show is tonight and I'm totally spoiler-free (apart from a few little things here and there) and I'm super excited. I've been cramming U2 like mad the past few days and I'm super hyped! (no pun intended) At the Bell center I'm in the 4th level tonight (little bit of a bummer) but tomorrow night I'm in the 1st level pretty close to the middle! Woohoo!
  11. thats gonna feel like a long time still (bummers seats) but better than nothing at all
