  1. Yep, Goodnight, have to go too. Le Mans Day today.
  2. Nice for me to leave at a reasonable hour tonight, goodnight everyone!
  3. Bye guys
  4. Holy cow! What an amazing show 2 hours or so of tears and goosebumps! Definitely want to join the discussions tomorrow.
  5. Congrats Alex!
  6. It looks like Ordinary Love is winning a place in those e-stage slots.
  7. It was cool! Glad they played it, the more new stuff the better!
  8. Just to summarize the big moments: Iris was heartbreaking and I'm not ashamed to say I cried, I couldn't help it. The song on the album makes me want to cry when I listen to it and seeing the shots of Bono's mom and him singing it in person was too much.

Cedarwood Road was everything I had hoped it would be and the stage design was so damn awesome. Like holy shit, that thing where it's like he's walking on the street inside the screen was so cool. I also loved the whole concept thing about growing up and taking everyone back to Dublin. I just wish they had followed through more with it! I wanted to see them take me to the desert and then through the 90s. Seemed as though after Sunday Bloody Sunday they went for a greatest hits thing, which is still awesome - but I would've loved to see a FULLY conceptual show.

The Wanderer was a cool addition, but I think it sort of confused the audience. No one realized U2 was actually playing Invisible lol.

The early stuff (electric co holy shit) and even the later stuff was all performed fantastically. I loved every minute of it and can't wait to do it again tomorrow. There's nothing like pouring your heart out during Pride or Streets with 20,000 other people. So amazing.

All in all I think it's a fantastic show. I think they can go one step further with the concept thing and throw away all of the songs that don't fit the "innocence and experience" thing (moments tonight felt like the 360 tour all over again) but I also realize they're playing to a room who want to hear the hits. That being said, the first half of the show blew me away. Sunday Bloody Sunday, Wolves, Song for Someone, wow. Everything flowed so nicely and the use of the screen was phenomenal.

Also, Bullet was fuckin awesome and the way he changed the "talking" section to talk to himself as a young man was epic and really cool. That's the kind of stuff I wish the second half focused on more.

Ending with Still Haven't Found would've sounded like an awesome idea on paper to me, going along with the whole experience thing. But after all these years it felt like an odd closer. I'm glad they didn't close with The Troubles, it would've brought that massive high right down. But I dunno, something else like This is Where You Can Reach Me Now or something might be interesting.

    Anyway, night all! Talk tomorrow!!!

    Best night ever! Again!

P.S crossing my fingers for Bad tomorrow night I hadn't been following the set lists, so I thought for sure it was coming after Wolves. It would just make so much sense as a staple.

"That song was written about our friend _____. He witnessed etc etc and turned to a drug that plagued our city when we were young. That drug was heroine. I wrote this next song for him, 30 years ago. This song is Bad."

Always nice to read reviews of people that were actually in the arena excited about the show as is.

Cedarwood Road scores another jaw drop and Still Haven't Found receives another obvious WTF to its score sheet.

Enjoy it tomorrow... Hopefully we all get lucky and get Bad tomorrow!

Great summary Alex. I thought it was a blistering show - the energy was over the top, especially after the intermission. Highlight for me was U2Brothr on the stage!

It's such an awesome experience from start to end I totally forget to even worry about the setlist - while only some variation since Vancouver 1 / 2, I loved every minute. And i was never a fan of Pride but it sure is working for them on this tour it was another highlight. New songs are so great as is Bono's voice.

Tomorrow will be even better! I predict Bad.
  11. My experience(s) with shows in which Pride stands out are usually the shows that are exceptional good
Shows in which everything seem to work. ISTHFWILF as a closer might have appeared as a bummer - and
perhaps it might even was! - but I think that it all has to do with being night 1 out of 4.
I don't expect Bad tomorrow, but it wouldn't surprise me if it turns up at night 3 or 4.
Let's hope they keep the variation coming in those designated slots
