  1. Well, exactly, not much was said in those interviews and we shouldn't believe the hype. You're the one that brought up the "they promised diff. setlists" argument.
I think we all agree that the show is fantastic, we want to see more setlist variation, but we will never agree on the "perfect setlist".

  2. They could play 24 different songs every night, but without any Dublin shows it still wouldn't feel like a tour.
  3. My point would be that "set list variation talk" is on the same level of "Bono's wardrobe talk". Maybe it's fun to talk about it but basically irrelevant to a serious discussion of the show.

"They should play 2 more songs different on night 2", "they should play x song instead of y" and "Bono should wear a leather jacket and black hair" are on the same level of discussion (and I don't think they're stupid discussions, btw, just not very important).

    ---

Elevation may be overplayed, but the crowd yesterday didn't care about that at all.
They didn't included any surprise on yesterday's gig, but the crowd didn't care about that at all.

I did care, so yesterday show is not going into my bootleg collection (LA 5 is still the one for me), but I enjoyed the stream non the less, and I don't see the point of feeling like they should've done anything different.
  4. Originally posted by ahn1991:5 out of 23/24 is still roughly 25% setlist variation from night to night, not to mention the most unique songs played of any other tour up to this point. If that's not a hallmark of setlist variation I don't know what is.

    360 got:

    Your Blue Room
    Unforgettable Fire

But in all seriousness, Bono should dye his hair black.
  6. All I know is as someone who hasn't been following the set lists every night, is that the show last night was unreal. My concern isn't that they might not differ the set list tonight, but that the show itself lacks a bit of conceptual focus in the second half.

All in all though, like anything that's amazing, U2 that could be better is still the best thing on Earth

    You haven't tried Snapple then...
  8. So what's the problem? Night 1 you feel great, night 2 you feel bad because you did not get what you were promised...
  9. I feel like many of you are over-analyzing this whole thing. Don't forget that the people on this website and hardcore U2 fans around the world basically make up 10% of the audience at a U2 show. They want each night to be the best for everyone. I agree that this tour could've been the one when they really went for something different, but finding out they didn't shouldn't be a big surprise

Not to mention none of you should take Bono at his word. I went to the show last night and it was fantastic. Maybe it's a different feeling watching the set list come in while sitting in front of your computer..

  11. I want to see U2 outside their comfort zone.
