  1. I've gotten a bit bored with guitar playing lately. Therefore I'm changing things up a bit gear-wise.

    Of my electric guitars, the only one that is safe is my Baja Telecaster. It's a great guitar. My Classic 60s Strat and Epiphone Sheraton may be sold. They don't really excite me right now. I'll give them a chance before selling them though, because I did really like them once. Maybe I can get back there.

    Effects-wise I think the Pod HD500X is somewhat responsible for the lack of excitement. Because of that, I'm going to start using other pedals again. Yesterday I brought out my old Ampeg Scrambler clone and tried using it with only guitar and amp, no HD500X. That sounded very exciting! However, I don't know if I can get rid of the HD500X that easily, since it does have a few things I want to have that would be expensive to replace with pedals. Delays and reverb for example.

    What I have done already is order a kit for building another pedal. This one is called the Mammoth Electronics Supercell Overdrive. I really like how it sounds in demos. Hopefully it'll be here tomorrow and I'll get to build it

    New gear often helps - I spent most of last week in bed feeling rubbish, but really got into playing my acoustic again (as it didn't require me to get out of bed and plug in to my amp!), I guess it's just situations etc.

    Having finally broached the world of souping up one's axes the other month (my Explorer sounds so good now), it might be worth doing something with the hardware on the guitars, might help mix things up to reignite your interest in them!

  6. I'm about to get a new guitar, just to avoid taking the Strat out of home every time I go to a jam or friend rehearsals.

    Pretty different among them, I know, but all of them have humbuckers and single coils (or dual-coil humbuckers) for the sake of versatility, and all of them look neat Any suggestions for what should I go for? The Michael Kerry is probably the best option for a long term guitar, but then again I would be just as scared to bump it as with my '89 american Strat I have a soft spot for the Ibanez SA-260 as it looks so Mark Knopfler/Santana-ish...
  7. My vote would honestly be for the SZ320, but that Michael Kerry is absolutely gorgeous.

  9. I do too, but mostly for (semi) hollows, I don't really fuss about their all solid guitars. That G5421 is gorgeous, has a different look and is cheap, but it isn't my preferred option out of that bunch. Its biggest up is that it's the only new one while the rest are second hand (I don't care about second hand, all my current guitars are, but it would be nice to get something new, for a change). Let's see!!

    Only obvious downside is the price tag. I will see if the guy is up to some haggling, if I can have it for <300 bucks it will be great.

    I'd say the Gretsch, 'cause that's one beautiful axe!

    I'm working towards getting an Ibanez RC320, just can't decide on the finish.

    The Gretsch is a Gretsch and that's some quality and good looking guarantee, sure, but I prefer the look of virtually any other option in there
