1. They seem to be locking the set list down quite a bit. I don't like it and I'm currently more likely to buy a new bike than form out cash to travel to a gig.

These Dublin shows could end up being brilliant seeing as they aren't likely to form part of the tour itself.
  2. My biggest gripe is the weakness sif the new material. Miracle, Iris, SFS, EBW, Volcano. All as weak as a day old lamb but solidified in the set at the expense of what I recmkn to be stronger album tracks like The Troubles, full EBW, California, Sleep Like a Baby, Reach Me etc.

Then throw in MW and Even Better and you have 2 songs which have already featured heavily in last tours so don't particularly leave much of an impression (same goes for Angel of Harlem and Desire performed with fans).

I still like to think that Bono's injury was a larger set back than the band have suggested and cost them heavily with rehearsal time. They have at least made efforts with The Troubles, Lucifer's Hand and seemingly Crystal Ballroom but the longer they settle into this setlist then the chances of considerable variation might be limited night per night.

Don't agree about the weakness of the new material, SFS and EBW are poor but those others are alright, nothing special but alright. But indeed those other tracks from SOI are more interesting to hear live.

MW is overplayed, Even Better isn't but doesn't sound as fresh as it did during 360. MW, BD, Pride, WOWY and COBL are for me the main songs which are so overplayed it isn't special to hear them anymore and they will just become an irritation factor. That's what I always loved about Bad during the last tours, they don't play it evernight it keeps it special and sounding fresher than those other examples.

I wonder if the injury really was such a huge set back. We'll never know but I don't think they would have player more songs or something. They still sound good so at least that is working out I also think they are kinda lazy, or at least a bit on the ''playing it safe'' side. They don't want to take big risks because they are afraid? In their carreer they made two big changes in their sound (R&H>AB, Pop>ATYCLB), why? Because they got a huge amount of criticism.

Comparing these first show to 360, besides the new songs there are no special songs or performances during this tour. TUF and UV improved the set very much. It just gave some ''sparkle''. Imagine if they would put some older, unplayed songs in this setlist instead of the list above and the setlist will improve a huge deal.

  4. Absolutely. Bring on Gloria !!
Or rotate Gloria with I will Follow. I don't know why they play that song EVERY night. Don't get me wrong, I love I will Follow, but I think it's a song they could easily rotate with another older song.

They could very well rehearse for months without Bono...
It's not like he follows the regular lyrics anyway
No seriously, Larry Edge and Adam could master the ballroom easily by now. If they wanted to.

Pretty much summed up how I feel. Except I'm still seeing them, maybe too much, but you never know when their day will come. Favourite tracks from the new album are the last three, the two new bonus tracks and invisible.. Basically completely ignored by the band sadly. I think the album is overall pretty weak now, nearly a year on. Probably their third worst effort overall, but it could have been so much. Needed to grow some balls and take the direction dangermouse was headed.
  7. Hits are hits so Beautiful Day, Vertigo COBL, WOWY etc are immune from criticism in my opinion. A tours strength is determined by the new material for me and I don't like most of what they are playing (or how they are playing it in the case of EBW). The tour will develop and mature as time goes on but this tour ranks low for me so far.

Just my few cents and easy to say as I haven't been to a show etc but I was more than happy to criticise aspects of shows that I have been to in the past.
  8. I think the set is pretty good as is. I definitely agree that it is missing an "event" song or the return of a song. Maybe they didn't really do that in other tours and really 360 was the first time I tracked a tour like a crazy person but hearing Ultra-Violet and Hold Me Thrill Me was amazing and a song like that is definitely missing. I felt like those were for the diehards but could still be enjoyed by everyone.

I'm pleased with the new material. I feel like Reach Me Now should be in the set but sadly there isn't a lot of room. They could switch out the new songs but I wanna hear the ones they are playing.

I'm big on nostalgia and themes- so if I was in a certain city or it was a certain time of year or whatever I'd play songs linked to that- California should have been in every set in California, I'd play New York in New York, Miami in Miami, October in October...you get it.

Also, have they ever done Bad into Elevation? Can you imagine the emotion of bad ended with "Elev-ation, elev-ation, elev-ation..." and BANG the energy of Elevation? I think you'd have people spent.

I Will Follow should rotate with Mofo or Lemon because Bono's mother is the subject in these songs
  10. As for the mother-theme I'm sad the Mofo snippet has disappeared.
  11. I went spoiler-free. Is there a comprehensive list somewhere of the songs they rehearsed before the tour started?

Gloria would be great! I'm a bit surprised they haven't touched October yet.
