  1. I think it may have been sold out in the sense that ticketmaster had sold all their tickets to either attendees or secondary vendors. This is a little marketing trick to make all the shows appear to be sold out while in actuality they aren't.

    I think there has to be a statistic that accounts for the number of people who actually show up to a concert. That would be a much better representation than ticketmaster statistics.
  2. alot of people wining about setlist i understand the need to say i want this i want that but its not going to change anything, just be happy with what songs are being played and be happy the band is still being as good are they are at there age!

    The venues hold record for actual people who get into the GA and into their seats but that info isn't officially published. You got to ask each venue in particular and they'll probably request you have press credentials or something in order to have that info.

    But yeah, MANY of these shows weren't sold out and yet they appear as such. It's not only U2 who does this, it's a fairly common trick by many Livenation-managed bands.
  4. Yeah I figured as much...

    I will say that based on my personal observations, I do believe some of these shows are truly sold out (GA totally maxed out and every seat with a body in it). LA 5 definitely looked totally sold out.
  5. Just got around to listening to the bootleg from Vancouver 2 and holy shit Bono turned Miracle Drug into something I think I need a miracle drug to get over... Aside from the Bono freestyle trainwreck, it sounded great.
  6. Who's surprised that some seats would go unsold? All of the best seats are $300 each.

    There were definitely a lot of empty seats at Chicago 1 and the majority of them were in those expensive areas.

    Also in Europe still loads of expensive seats for sale, I'm not surprised at all. Even die hard fans are not likely to put up $300 for a seat.

    300 where are those seats located what were the most expensive on 360?
  9. In my mind if you want a good seat to U2 you have to pay that? Maybe I'm wrong. I had the "best" seats for 360 and they were 200 and something.

    I had a floor seat for JAY Z and Justin Timberlake and that was 200 and something as well.

    I simply can't swing that or at least it'd be to painful to swing it.
  11. Random observations after attending a show:

    - The video screen was fine, but unnecessary for me. I actually stopped paying much attention to it after a while.

    - The disco balls were better. Hilarious that such an old school, cheap thing still works. MORE DISCO BALLS!

    - Every Breaking Wave is better with just the piano. Really worked for me in person (a highlight) and now the studio version seems wrong (to me).

    - Bullet, as always, was a highlight.

    - The pacing of the show is odd. Definitely sagged in the middle and seemed to lose the audience a bit.

    - As much as I love the Zoo Tour and Achtung Baby, I could use a break from Even Better and End of the World. Both sound tired to me. There are better, less played songs that could be performed.

    - The stage setup is good. I like that the little stage is all the way to the other end.
  12. This will be hard to explain or convey, but had an interesting experience during the show.

    I saw U2 twice on the Joshua Tree Tour and they were my favorite band at the time and these were my first rock concerts attended.

    The other night, when they played songs from the Joshua Tree album & tour, as I was watching the band in the present, the images that I was seeing in my mind were those songs performed as I saw them in 1987.

    Even the view/angle was different in my mind and reflected my seats and what I saw all of those years ago instead of what I was actually seeing the other night.

    The J-Tree stage... the light setup... Bono's long black hair... Rosemont Horizon instead of the UC... Edge's old hat(s)...

    Was very vivid and consistent to those songs alone - didn't happen with the Zoo songs.

    And no, I wasn't on anything and my eyes were open.

    I recognized it was happening, thought it was cool and went with it.

    Was an interesting and somewhat mind-blowing experience on a personal level. Maybe I "got" this whole Innocence and Experience thing on a whole 'nother level.
