2015-06-24 - Chicago
Tour: Innocence and Experience tour
Songs played: 25
Audio recordings: 5
Videos: 1
  1. YES, The Crystal Ballroom! It finally happened. Doubted to listen live, needed the sleep and thought they would play it the last night in Chicago. Ah well, now I can already listen to it in Flac. Awesome! That Edge solo was great (but why did Bono have to sing over it).
  2. FINALLY!!! I watched a video of it quickly on the bus, looked very well to me! Can't wait to hear the bootleg and see better vids.

    They're spoiling you Chicago
  3. Lovely to see it finally make the light of day - would be great to get a good audio mix but hey, let's rejoice in the modern world of instant communication! To think that only 10 or so hours ago, the boys were playing their gig, and now we're critiquing online videos of the performance. Never fails to amaze me (in a good way).
  4. Nice vid and song was straight jack homey!

    Good stuff.

Agree that maybe Bono could show a bit of restraint while Edge is soloing, but Edge must not mind as it's been going on for the entire existence of the band.

If it was me on guitar, I'd put my foot in his ass at some point.
  5. F*CK, THE CRYSTAL BALLROOM!!!

Agreed. I didn't even notice until the second listen (variable stream quality last night), but Bono with the looping "oh oh" at the end was akin to having teeth pulled. I know we like to have a good old moan about Bono around here, but this definitely needs another attempt from the band. This time with added shut up from Bono.
  7. Amazing set of 50+ photos posted for last nights show.

He completely beefed the song up last night and left out a whole damn verse...he's usually sang the whole song.
  9. To build on what dyl has already said (and I agree with just about all of it)...my thoughts for N4:

I'm standing by my comments about Bono's voice.

I was shocked to come on the forums and see that you were all very proud of the band's first half - I thought Bono's voice was quite hoarse last night. Musically, the band was VERY tight for the first half, but his voice had me terrified for him. I might have been hearing it a bit funny though, who knows.

The Electric Co. blew my mind last night.

I'd have to listen to the bootleg to re-confirm, but it was one of my favorite performances of the song I've probably ever heard.

Officially the most emotional I've been at a U2 show.

Call it something in the air, I don't know - but during "Iris" I welled up a bit thinking about my own mother and how lucky I've been to have her, and then again during "Song For Someone" just going to that place in my head that the song takes me, a very personal connection...it was a great experience.

Other than The Crystal Ballroom, the show was what I'd call "solid".

No alarms and no surprises, just a great performance from the band. During right around "Pride," I got my very first wave of "alright, you've seen this all before" on my whole run thus far.

    In terms of "Still".....

I hate it as a closer...except for last night. Last night, the band actually played themselves off stage, which I had never seen them do before (maybe they have, I haven't watched all the videos). Edge continued to play the music far after he'd walked off stage and out of the arena. Same to be said for Bono, who sang the entire PHTP snippet out of sight of the crowd. I think when they introduce the song as "an explanation of why they still do this," and then end the show by trailing off into the unknown, so to say, saying they still haven't found what they're looking for, it makes the desire to come back and see them again much stronger. I was very pleased with last night's ending.
