    Maybe you'll understand it better if I say that the sound here is only a PART of what this is - perhaps one only needs a little IMAGINATION to understand this right...

    But tell me, why is this offensive to you? It seems that there is a lot of negative emotion in your comment. Do you want to talk about?

    I always see a waste of time in taping with bad equipment, uploading/downloading bad recordings, etc.

    You'll do wise not to judge the quality of the time that other people spend.
    It is none of your business and it says a lot more about yourself than it actually
    says about the ones you are "judging"...
  5. I am curious BigGirl, and not intending to attack you, what is the original bitrate of the broadcast? I can't tell if your resampling upon the initial capture--are you recording the direct stream or is the program capturing the screen into a user-set bitrate?

    I'm not sure what the original bit-rate was, all I know is that it was AAC (iPhone). My capture @48000Hz was intentionally to bypass any compression problems (e.g. Windows vs Apple). I did not resample this capture other than to mp3 to share it here (but mp3's are also @48kHz). The main reason for doing this (mp3 instead of flac) is to avoid any possible confusion in the traders pool.

  8. BTW: What surprises me even more than all the commotion regarding the mixlr-broadcast recordings&mixes is that apparently nobody else did a similar thing...
    Still, I sincerely hope that someone recorded Montréal 1 with traditional gear and external microphones. This was never meant as a back-up plan...

    So it's broadcasting in 48k? I'd imagine its putting a stream out at something like 192 or 256kps--and I'd guess trying to capture that without and transcoding would be better.

    Sounds like it used to be 96kps, although hopefully it's improved since then. Looks like you could capture the full stream without any transcoding. That would improve the quality at least by removing one step of encoding.
  12. I don't know, is it? It's rather that because I don't know what I am going to get - I mean some mixlr broadcast have way too low of a bit rate to do something with it - because I don't know what I'll get, I choose the largest capture (=my recording at the computer)

    Theoretically, yes. But
    a) I don't have a recorder capable of recording directly in AAC and,
    b) I don't know beforehand what the stream will be.

    these mixlr broadcasts are mixed; that is, some stereo processing and eq' ing was done to make it as listable as possible - I mean, although the sound is not 100% of what this is about, I'm at least trying to make it as good as possible.
